Love this app. The text to speech also works fine. I can read so many formats. Best thing. I can change the font color, font size and background, that means I can read in night mode and daylight mode comfortably. It shows me the progress nicely. Auto scans for files. Occupies very less space in you phone memory. I wish the dictionary didn't open in another app, there should be like a popup with the meaning of the highlighted word in the reader itself.

I love this app! It enables the user to read books and papers in any format.. PDF, epub, MOBI, txt, etc and is more customizable than most. The app allows one to change a wide variety of settings, including the font, color, format and style of the file, according to personal needs and preferences. An all in one reader that replaces the need to have separate apps for each type of file.. convenient and highly useful.

I love librera. It is the most customizable reader I have seen by far. I was going to buy the Pro version and forget about others as description suggests. However, although it still has more options than others, TTS in this app is quite bad. It doesn't highlight lines, you can only navigate between pages not sentences or paragrafs. moreover it cannot read words like "didn't" or "couldn't" and any "s" suffix. which is weird it should be done by the TTS engine. I tried many engines but no.

I just purchased the pro version to support the developer. It is the best reader I have found for vertical scrolling. The reader is highly configurable and you can back up your book positions. Even the free version is excellent. I have tried tons of book readers and this is the best and receives steady updates. I just wanted to show my appreciation. Thank you for the app!

How to Select Text in Librera?

Librera’s text selection options are quite sophisticated. With a long press (and dragging), you can select words, passages, and entire pages. Then you can easily, in a single tap, copy text to paste it in another app, share your selection with other users, make a bookmark, send it to a TTS engine (to read it out loud) or to on-/off-line translators/dictionaries, etc.

To enable text selection:

Tap at center-screen to open the menu

Tap the settings icon to open the Preferences window

Go to the Advanced Settings tab and check the respective box

Impatient users can check the Single-tap to select box. (This option works great with the Open selection in dictionary option in the main tab of the Preferences window)

The Select text letter by letter option should come in handy when selecting text in some Asian languages

Selecting Text Segments and Entire Pages

Long-press on a word in the passage you intend to select

Drag your finger in the selection direction. When you see the start and end handles, you can release your finger, close the Text window and continue selecting text by dragging the handles

To select an entire page, open the Go to Page window by tapping the thumbnail view icon

Long-press on the page you intend to select and choose an option from the dropdown list

Creating a New TXT File for Notes, Quotes, etc.?

You can use Librera’s notepad functionality to create your own files in .txt format. It will come in handy when you decide to make a compilation of quotations from the books you’re reading (by copying/pasting), jot down your notes on a book, compile a file for audio (TTS) recording, etc.

To create a new file:

Tap on the New File link in the slide-out Preferences tab (menu)

Enter a meaningful name for your file, ending in “.txt”

Type or paste the content of this new TXT file and tap SAVE

The new file will be saved to the Downloads folder on your device (internal storage).

Updating Your Library？

Once you have added books to your Library or removed some stuff from it, you need to update it to reflect those changes.

Tap on the refresh icon to start updating the Library.

In the slide-out Preferences tab, you can specify some extra folders for Librera to look for books in.

You can also delete entire folders from the list of ones to be scanned for books.

Once you’ve made changes to the list of eligible file-types, a prompt will appear in a couple of seconds for you to confirm the changes.
