Just thought I'd share my perspective/ experience with this app. Hopefully it is helpful.

1) IT IS FREE: For most Airtel subscribers, Xtream is a value-add that comes with the recharge or broadband subscription itself. i.e. IT IS FREE as long as you've paid for the connection or subscription itself. While it does provide subscription options for their partner services in-app, the Xtream content is already paid for, so to speak.

2) VERY HIGH QUALITY CONTENT SUITED TO INDIAN TASTES: In India, as paid Video-On-Demand platforms go, it is Hotstar followed by Amazon's Prime Video that provide the content most average people would actually watch day to day at very affordable costs: i.e. Between Rs.999 and Rs.1,500 annually. Airtel Xtream provides close to the same content quality FREE OF CHARGE to subscribers, at least till now in my experience. That is pretty phenomenal. And it is better than the Jio Cinema app in terms of app responsiveness, polish of the user interface and video display resolution - It is not entirely without bugs or crashes, but to come this close to Prime Video levels of quality of service at this price point, seems pretty awesome to me. It is better than the Tata Sky mobile apps and VOD system too. So kudos, Airtel for that!

3) SIMILAR EXPERIENCE ACROSS DEVICES: Xtream is available on every major platform including desktop. The app has a simple UI, very straightforward navigation, and provides a very consistent user experience across desktop, android and iOS tablets, Android TV and Firestick - this based on what I have seen and tested myself. I think that's pretty impressive for a company that doesn't have the backing of Amazon or the experience of Netflix in this field.

IN CONCLUSION: As a long-time Airtel user - 18 years at last count - and an early adopter, it is my experience that they sometimes push products to market before the product, the market or the technology is ready, mature and has the appropriate capacity. This could be why previous reviewers experienced issues. So when it comes to tech products and services in general, check whether the product, technology is mature and has sufficient infrastructure in your region or locality before investing.
