You all know I suck at writing devlogs, so imma keep it nice and short.

I've been finishing up Alyssa's scene (and failing cos I'm a bum), got to around 35% of June's scene, and doing some other miscellaneous shit like editing some of the animations to make them look a lil nicer.

The render count is now up to 1,526 images and 27 animations. I'm really not happy with how slow progress has been, but no matter how many renders I pose and how many words I write, the queue is still being a punk ass bitch and being slow as fuck.

The setting for this game is the titular (he he) Westview Academy. We play as a young man who has quite the figure ahead of him. What I like about the way that the story is set up is that there are two very different ways that it can go. You can decide to be a superstar athlete and go down that path. Or you can embrace your creative side and become a musician and try for music superstardom. I found this to be quite a cool way to go about things and I was even more surprised at how different each of these paths ended up being.

While the two paths that Westview Academy puts before you are quite different. I will say that I can see how some people feel that this is not a very original game. Pretty much every trope and cliché you have ever seen in another college set game or even movie is here. We are talking about the jerk bully that gives you a hard time, the hottie you want to bang, and even a slutty teacher that has some extra credit for you. However, I will say that the game fully embraces these tropes and has a lot of fun with it. The writing goes from being serious to goofy and while that may throw some people off, I got a big kick out of it.

One thing that I am very glad for in Westview Academy is that they resisted them temptation to add in a bunch of sandbox exploration and stat grinding elements into the game. This is about as straight up a lewd visual novel as you can get and it is a pretty damn good one too. As I said, you have two very different ways that the story can go and within those paths are different choices that you have to make to move the story along. Nothing here was too brain teasing at all and it was very clear what you were supposed to choose. Still, I had a fun time with this and found that the whole pacing of the story was done really well and it was entertaining.

Final Thoughts:

Westview Academy is another project for an adult audience of gamers, which should please everyone who loves freedom and variability of events within the framework of a prepared scenario. The main character of the game will be a young man whose last year at school turned out to be extremely difficult, challenging and stressful. So he perceives successful admission to a famous academy as a gift of fate. He is going to get an education and have a great time with new friends. Well, the players themselves will decide what and how will happen in the life of the guy who finally ended up where he always dreamed.
