Introduction

Long ago, Eredas was sundered by a cosmic war between angels and demons, drawing mortal kingdoms into the fray. It ended in catastrophe, with a great scar upon the world, and one of the greatest human kingdoms consumed by shadow. Angels and demons withdrew in its wake, leaving mystery and destruction in their wake. But the world survived, rebuilding from the destruction, and has enjoyed peace ever since. Not many opportunities left for a would-be hero, until one day you discover a monument to a war time had nearly forgotten, and are trapped within an ancient tomb meant to destroy the last remaining archangel and first-generation succubi.Rescue them, and embark on a shared journey to discover the truth of that ancient war, as well as an otherworldly entity whose gaze you may be responsible for drawing to your world. Decide what it means to be a hero, and what evils are permissible in the name of the Greater Good.

Changelog:

Definitely took longer than I'd hoped, but there are a lot of large scenes here, important to each character's development, so hopefully it's worth the wait!

I'm especially fond of the Ina, Siofra, and Rosalyn scenes - I decided to try to focus on them to catch them up a bit to others and ensure they felt like full relationships, and in the first two cases, members of the camp.

Rosalyn gets two giant scenes, one full of reveals about her character - and your backstory - and another that's more about your growing relationship with each other. God I wish she would hug me.

Sarah, Ashley, and Metatron get a daytime conversation, touching on Bariura lore and giant mecha.

Siofra gets Trust 8, Affection 4, and Affection 6 scenes, significantly deepening your relationship with her and revealing more of her (mostly) likeable side.

Ina gets Trust 8, Trust 10, and Affection 8 scenes, showcasing a lot more of our favorite princess, plenty of Atlantis lore, and hinting at the start of a relationship.

Aspasia gets a Trust 12 scene with a moral quandary and some of her being surprisingly sweet.

Sam gets an Affection 16, following up her date withsome character development and cute moments!

Maya gets an Affection 12, which is equal parts her shitposting, lore about the east, and admitting you're alright, which is basically a declaration of love from her.

Sarah gets an affection 18, very comfy and sweet. Comfort food reading and I love her for it.

As always, 0.33 is now free for everyone as a 'demo' download. It's an absolutely massive update, so hopefully everyone is eating good today!

Comments:

If you have experienced any kind of fantasy story before, Divine Dawn is going to feel right at home. In this fantasy land, we play as a young man that has dreams of being a hero and he is willing to help those in need. That is a good thing as there is an impending doom on the horizon and there are these goddesses that are missing and finding them could be the key to saving the world. It may be a bit cliché in places, but I found it to be well written and engaging enough.

What I think I liked best about the tale that Divine Dawn was weaving was the nice amount of characters. There are different characters that will and can join your party and I love anything that has monster girls in it so I got a real kick out of the variety of characters that were part of the story. I also liked how the way that characters would react to the main character would differ depending on certain factors too. I know on the surface it looks like a basic fantasy story, but it really is fun and well told, plus it is easy to follow and not over convoluted like some stories can be.

I know that I said that I felt Divine Dawn was more like a lewd visual novel than a full RPG, but actually, the more I think about it, the more I think it lies somewhere in between. The game is mostly played through menu screens so there is no wandering around a giant world or anything like that. You have different bits of equipment you can equip, there is a battle system, a party system and it is a fun adventure. There are different meters that you have to keep an eye on too and of course, earning the affection of hot chicks along the way is also part of the gameplay.

I am a huge fan of the character designs in Divine Dawn. I already spoke about how I loved the characters in how they are written, but their designs are what really caught my eye. Metaron is my favorite, she is this big buff looking chick and she is awesome. We also have a sexy succubus called Sarah and Sam who looks like a MMA fighter. This is just a small example of the characters you will encounter here. The lewd content is great too and I love the whole anime vibe that the game has going on.

Final words:

Divine Dawn is a text-based RPG in which you step into the role of a would-be hero, with dreams of greatness and no likelihood of achieving any of them in a peaceful world with no real genocidal threats. Then you nearly die several times in a row, discover traces of an ancient mystery and (possibly) impending doom, and go on a road trip with a colorful cast of comrades to save the world! Maybe. You’ve got a lot of fighting, therapy, adventure, and monster girls to deal with before we get to that point. Fortunately, you’ll usually have a partner at your side to help you out in fights and offer witty(?) banter(?). But only you can decide if it’s worth trading your humanity for the power you need – otherworldly energies offer much, but will change your body over time.

On the other hand, games can also bring us face-to-face with the complexities of real life, allowing us to experience its highs and lows, its moments of joy and sorrow, all within a controlled environment.
