Introduction

Mystic Knight Maya is a prime example of why I should never judge a book by its cover! I saw a video of this on a stream one night and I thought that it looked kind of janky to be honest with you. However, the streamer kept putting it over and saying that it was a fun lewd 2D action game and their enthusiasm eventually won me over. I checked out the demo and I got so into it that I ended up heading to the patreon and signing up! While exploring the island you will encounter its many inhabitants that wish to only do harm to the main character, but you will also meet some neutral NPCs that might help or hinder your journey. It’s a 2D action platformer with some light metroidvania elements, such as non-linear exploration, inventory system, special skills, dialogue, etc. You will start the game on the beaches of a mysterious island and from there you will be able to explore it at your leisure, trying to find a way to escape from it and discovering its mysteries.

Gameplay:

It's a 2D action platformer with light metroidvania elements, such as non-linear exploration, inventory system, special skills and dialogue. The heroine Maya begins the adventure on the beaches of a mysterious island, and she will need to explore it in order to find a way to escape.

While exploring the island, Maya will encounter its many quirky inhabitants, and they hunger for outsiders like her! Maya will have to navigate this dangerous environment while uncovering the mysteries surrounding her arrival!

A Brave Girl On A Mysterious Island

The main character that we play as in Mystic Knight Maya is called Maya, the title kind of gives it away, doesn’t it? Anyway, she grew up listening to all these stories about brave heroes and warriors! She finds herself on this mysterious island where there seems to be an awful lot of horny characters that want to have their way with her! The story is basically her exploring the different regions of this island trying to discover its secrets!

Metroidvania On The Amiga

When I first saw Mystic Knight Maya being played on that stream, it reminded me of the early 90s platformers from Europe that you would see on the Amiga, but it is actually more like a Metroidvania style of game. Well, I say that, but it is more Metroidvania Lite as the game has exploration elements, new items, and powers, but it is not going all in with RGP like mechanics. While this may make it sound like the game is very simple, it actually works to its advantage as it keeps the progression on track and makes it a fun and exciting experience.

Rewarding You As You Go!

I was very impressed with the amount of different areas/stages that Mystic Knight Maya had to offer. Getting new stuff like the dash ability or the ability to quickly travel from one area to the next was fun. The combat in the game is mostly melee based, but once you get that dash ability it becomes way more fun. The enemies could do with a bit more balancing as some of them take way too many hits. However, I will say that the boss encounters are done very well as they require strategy and careful timing and they end up being a lot of fun and more about skill and what you have learned as you make your way to them.

Getting "Inside"

As far as the presentation goes, I like it. Mystic Knight Maya is made with a cool 2D style, it was the visuals that gave me these 90s Amiga game vibes and that is actually meant as a compliment as the pixel art here has a lot of charm to it. I got a huge kick out of the fox looking monster girls strutting around the beach naked during the first stage. The XXX content here is pretty crazy and way more extreme than I was expecting. It even has vore stuff going on which I was surprised to see. However, I will say that there is something for everyone here as they try to cater to most fetishes.

DEMO VERSION:

This is a game that works only on windows machines 64bit. There is no planned support for 32bits versions of windows, nor other OS such as android, mac or linux.

Review:

A wide variety of different fetishes and a toggle to disable them if there's something you don't like.

Gameplay is generally pretty fluid, especially compared to most H-Games on the market and the dev is very receptive to feedback and ideas from the community as well as being very consistent and reliable with updates. I'm not going to say it's a 5/5 in a vacuum- but for the general level of quality for H-Games its definitely way above the vast majority of them and earns it 5/5 in that niche.

Additionally one of the few games out there with Vore content that isn't exclusively creature/monster vore or barely even qualifies as a game. Very much recommend if you're interested in one of the niche fetishes it offers.

One of the most addictive games in its genre that I have played. I really like the mechanics of this game, and the scenes that are here, they are simply at the highest level. I hope that the game will continue to be developed and updated. Thank you to the developer for such a wonderful project.

QoL – Can hold directional buttons during the ero grab struggle. This is intended behavior, for those who wish to avoid button mashing.
Change – Nerfed enemies: Geckewt (slower and weaker) and Wasp Girl (HP reduced by 45%)
Fixed – Ero scene of Slime Girl’s (2nd animation transformation) was not playing the TF at the end.
Fixed – Latex Maiden was not correctly releasing Maya at the end of the animation, encased in a body suit.
Fixed – The text listing the Debug Keys was reappearing even after it had been disabled in the Advanced Options.
Fixed – Picking up any HP/SP power-ups was not immediately reflecting the increased value in the UI bars (visual bug only).
