The premise of the game is fantastic and with a title like Glassix, you know that some kind of glasses are involved with this game. The basics of the story are that your dad has passed away and your stepmother has decided that the family needs to move away for a fresh start. Well, things get a little weird as your “dad” gives you a magical pair of glasses that can let you see through chicks’ clothes!

Visually, Glassix is a game that looks like it should have come out around five years or so ago. I am not saying that this is a bad game, but I will say that the character models, animation and various renders that the game has all look dated. There are plenty of character models in the game, sex scenes, and so on. However, it just has the look of a game that is kind of past its sell by date. I would wager if you showed this game to a friend, “when was this released?” would be one of the first questions that they would ask you.

The game has an affection and obedience system at play. The way this works is the main gameplay mechanic of what Glassix is all about. You need to chat to the girls and try and win their favor by saying and doing the right things. You do this and their affection for you goes up which in turn makes them more obedient and willing to do what you want them to do. There is a little bit of “trainer” game going on here too which I thought was pretty neat. You also need to go to school to improve your stats, you can decide what the girls should wear and in general, there is more to the gameplay than just your standard visual novel game.

What is a WTHAISTG game? This is what you are probably asking right now. Glassix is what I would call a where the hell am I supposed to go kind of game. There is a lot to go and do in this game and many different locations, but the game is very cryptic and while there is a hint system at play, it felt like it was really hit or miss in terms of actually helping me out. I do not think that this is a bad game at all and there are some great ideas. I think that there are some interesting gameplay aspects to Glassix, but the whole not knowing where to go and what to do becomes very frustrating to deal with and I can see this turning many people off.

Glassix is a project for an adult audience of gamers. It has both the usual features of a visual novel and the qualities of a sandbox. Thanks to which players, following the plot, will be able to make decisions and freely decide what to do next within the framework of the prepared scenario. The main character, at the behest of his stepmother, moves with her to a new city for him. And also unexpectedly for himself, he receives special glasses as a gift from his long-dead father. The unique qualities of the accessory open up incredible opportunities for the protagonist to realize his plans and ideas. Which is what this game will actually need to do.
