Introduction

Terraforming Mars is a mobile adaptation of a desktop strategy, which offers the player to take the presidency of a corporation dedicated to the exploration of Mars. The user will carry out the process of terraforming the red planet through the use of various resources, the construction of cities, the formation of ponds and forests, among other processes. All activities are carried out with the aim of creating a suitable environment for people’s lives; however, even in such a noble cause, players will have to face difficulties. Run a corporation and launch ambitious Mars terraforming projects. Lead massive construction jobs, manage and use your resources, create cities, forests and oceans, and set rewards and goals to win the game!

Features:

Board game for you to terraform a project on Mars: Carrying on a great mission to transform Mars into a new home for humanity, Terraforming Mars is definitely a game that brings a unique and unforgettable experience. It’s a sophisticated combination of strategy, planning, and randomness. This game from publisher Twin Sails Interactive puts you in the role of company leader.Accordingly, the main task of each player is to build projects from simple to complex right on Mars. Each stage must be done thoroughly until everything becomes perfect, and you need to complete the board levels if you want to complete this mission. If you want to download Terraforming Mars through Google Play, you will have to pay about $8.99 per download.

Interactive strategic gameplay: Joining Terraforming Mars, players will go through a complex process from resource management and technology research to infrastructure project construction. One of the unique features of the gameplay is that you can customize your strategy based on technology and project cards. These cards not only expand your strategy options but also make each game unique. For example, you can focus on building cities and providing energy, or invest in research to exploit rare resources. Thereby, you gradually create your own development path, which makes the game always interesting even after playing it many times. Besides, the element of interaction between players also plays an important role. You can cooperate to achieve common goals like raising the planet’s temperature or creating lakes. But at the same time, it faces fierce competition when sharing resources and geographical location with other players.

Confront directly with rival corporations: The fierce competition in Terraforming Mars will be a factor that attracts any type of player. More specifically, you will face competition from other corporations, each with its own strategies, advantages, and principles. Each corporation has specific advantages in the terraform process, based on the financial and technical capabilities and resources they possess. This means you need to understand your competitors, recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and choose how to interact. Will you compete directly with them or seek to collaborate to achieve a common goal? Therefore, choosing to invest in specific projects, build infrastructure, or buy technology licenses can create an important strategic advantage in this uncompromising war.

Transformation of living conditions on Mars: As can be seen, Terraforming Mars takes the player on a long journey to transform the surface of Mars and make it suitable for life. The game ends when the three main conditions on Mars are met: the right temperature, enough lakes on the surface, and enough oxygen in the environment. This reflects the fact that the planet has become habitable, with a friendly habitat. But the special thing is, although the above three factors are important, completing them does not mean that you will win. The top place goes to the player who accumulates the most terraform points, which are calculated from doing projects, building structures, and making scientific advances. Besides, you need to plan your strategy and manage your resources effectively if you want to optimize the number of terraform points you get.

Highlights:

Strategic gameplay: Each person will often need to consider increasing temperature and oxygen. At the same time, some special environments can be created to maintain life stability.

Manage resources: Over time, resources can become scarce if you waste them. Therefore, you should use them reasonably in city-building projects on Mars.

Versatile play options: Gameplay allows each person to compete against up to 5 players. From there, they can freely decide their own experience when switching between different modes.

Complex game variant: All your decisions are often tied to cards that have unique effects. Therefore, you will want to build a suitable deck to overcome the challenge.

Dynamic DLC: The game not only focuses on the basic elements but continuously opens up new elements. Therefore, DLCs are often the right choice if you want to try an upgraded experience.

Competing corporations: The interesting point of the game is creating many opponents that you have to overcome. You are not alone on this planet; there are many other players who are constantly evolving.

Reviews:

I have to be honest, I love the game itself but this is one of the worst maintained pieces of software I've ever seen. And I grew up in the era of 1980's buggy games. The team behind TM occasionally makes software updates, and they always result in game functionality going down, several cards at a time bugging out and not working anymore, and other quality of life problems in the gameplay. There are also recurring and consistent bug issues, such as your opponent getting infinite turns, you being unable to pass your turn, your opponent getting free stuff (i.e. cheating), and the game generally crashing. Just now I had a game where the AI and I were both in the middle of our turns, and "your opponent has passed" kept being repeated as an infinite loop. I think I programmed better games than this when I was learning GW Basic. It's a simple board game, how hard can it be to keep it running properly? I'm left with the weird idea that they're messing with the players on purpose as a psychological experiment.I highly recommend TM itself, but this digital version is garbage.

Terraforming Mars is a very enjoyable game. I have only been using the game to play against AI and learn the cards better for IRL play. For seemingly very simple card actions there are a lot of cards that do not function properly which definitely detracts from the game. Eventually you learn what those cards are and just don't pick them, which really leaves holes in some strategies. That being said I would recommend this game if the bugs were fixed as it is fun, but that seems like it will never happen. It's been out since 2018 and still has major bugs which should have been fixed before release. It might be worth the buy if it is on sale for $5 or less but is too defective to pay $20 for.

UI is smooth. Easy to play but thats it. Online sucks, if you quick join a game you'll get a game with no expansions and just one person usually with a 30 minute timer. If you make a lobby with all the DLCs then you have to wait for 30 minutes for two other players to join. Then you risk a player not responding or doing anything. I've never raged quit from a game and the only time I've forfeited its because some one is afk and not responsive and Im sitting there for what feels like 10 minutes with not change, and now my karma is 2. Playing offline with AI is a joke, very hard is stupid easy their tile placements makes no sense. A player can end their turn and your timer may start but you cant take any action for 10 seconds because its processing the end of the opponents turn, and you have to wait that out. Online is only good if you have friends.

28 hours in and no bugs, dunno what the other guys problems are. Don't expect the same vibes as playing at your kitchen table with your mates, this is cut-throat, randomized, numbers go up, down to the core. Some things that work great at the table suck here (haptic and visibility of actions and tokens on cards), while others are much much better (organization, computing, rules, speed).
