Can I Play With Madness?

If you get that reference, you are someone that I will happily call my hard rocking amigo! The Cure for Madness has a Lovecraftian style of story and that is something that made me very excited to play this game. The basics of the story are that our lovely protagonist Alice is trying to help her brother who is being driven to madness and they head to a sleepy little town that may or may not be more sinister and dangerous than she could have imagined!

A Thinking Person’s Lewd Game

If you are a really hardcore Lovecraftian scholar, The Cure for Madness may bug you with some of its takes, but for the most part, I think that it works and is an interesting take on the dark and mystifying Lovecraftian world. The premise here is certainly great, but I just love the way that the story is so character driven. Our core group of characters are well written with clear motives, personalities, and so on. I will say that the story does lose a bit of steam towards the end, but for the most part, it is great and a very cleverly written and well paced story that I enjoyed immensely.

How Dark Is Too Dark?

Visually, The Cure for Madness is great and the Lovecraftian style is something that I got a major kick out of. Our main character is cute and all of the character renders are done well and have a realistic look to them. The lewd content is great too and while I do feel that this is a lewd game that is more story based than most, the amount of lewd content and the rate that it happens is more than fair. I just think that the game is a tad on the dark side, I feel that some of the great little details will be lost for many people as the game is so dark, perhaps if they increased the brightness just a tad it would be better for it.

Ooooh Yeah, The Cure for Madness will have you dropping elbow drops all throughout the kingdom of the madness! Ok, so that was an excuse to drop a Macho King Randy Savage reference, but to be fair this game as far as lewd visual novels go is one of the best. It has fantastic pacing, but when it presents you with a choice, you more often than not will look at the screen for at least a minute or so as you try and decide what the right take is. It is a game that makes you feel like your choices matter and that is all down to the fantastic story and the way it is presented to the player.

This is where the girl's dangerous and full of unexpected turns journey to uncover the secret that hangs over her family begins.
