Riptide GP: Renegade is a highly anticipated sports game where players will face pursuit by police from behind, speeding across waterways at top speed and using their driving skills to escape capture. The game also supports multiplayer mode, allowing you to form your own team and race online with up to eight players, showcasing your skills and driving prowess to leave them far behind and earn rich rewards while competing against other players on the leaderboard. As the game progresses, players will unlock more jet skis and map scenarios, bringing an even more intense water racing experience.

Gameplay:

The game controls pretty much exactly as you would expect from an arcade racer. Hold the right trigger to accelerate, left to brake, and the A button activates your turbo. This boost is charged by pulling off tricks that can be performed either mid air or on land. The more complicated the trick, the more boost you will gain; they’re not difficult to pull off, but the animation for the harder tricks takes more time to finish. If you land in the water before the trick finishes, you will ragdoll off the bike in a comically painful manner. The risk / reward system is really well done and I’ve screwed up many a race by being overly cocky. 

There are nine tracks in total, which you will be continually playing across the five chapters. There are a variety of themes present across each one, from a theme park to a flooded city. They all have alternate routes and shortcuts for you to discover, which can help give you the edge over your competitors. Oftentimes, these alternate routes open up as a result of the track shifting: water fountains in the theme park level, for example, can push your hydro jet upwards onto another section of the course allowing you to bypass a short area of the track. All the levels have a lot going on, from battling dreadnoughts (which you can use as ramps) to relentless water police that try to ram you off-course.

Upgrade Handling More Often: Riptide GP players can upgrade acceleration, handling, speed and boost for their hydrojets. Handling is perhaps the most essential thing to upgrade and max out first. Control is key in Riptide GP as any kind of contact with a wall or obstacle will slow you down. Furthermore, the race tracks’ waves also toss hydrojets up and down. Thus, upgrading handling more often will enable you to get a better grip of your hydrojets sooner rather than later and probably ensure you complete events more quickly.

Find the Shortcuts: Most of the race tracks in Riptide GP: Renegade include a shortcut of some description. The best shortcuts in the game can win races for you, or will at least give you a great chance of a top three finish. So, it’s well worth finding the race track shortcuts in Riptide GP: Renegade. Save Your Boost for Straight Sections of Race Tracks: Speed boosts can win lots of races. However, players might lose control of their hydrojets, or at least bump into something, if they utilize boost on windy stretches of race tracks with lots of turns. Bumping into turns and obstacles can ruin speed boosts. Therefore, try to save your boosts for straighter stretches of race tracks where there are few turns and obstacles.

Keep the Stunts Simple in Most Races: Players need to pull off stunts to get more speed boost in Riptide GP races. The lower level stunts provide less speed boost, but they’re also more straightforward to pull off. Players are much more likely to mess up higher level stunts, which will usually be enough to ensure they finish outside the top three. As such, it’s often better to stick to simpler stunts during most races. Pulling off level one and two stunts with regularity will usually provide enough boost for top three finishes.However, you might still need to pull off higher level stunts to finish first in some races and beat the later bosses. The Triple Back Flip and Triple Front Flip are two of the more straightforward level 10 stunts to pull off. So, stick to those level 10 stunts when you really need them. However, never try to pull off a level 10 stunt from low ramps as they don’t provide enough elevation for them.

Upgrade Acceleration Before Elimination Races: Elimination events are shorter races in which seven hydrojet riders get eliminated until there’s just one left. Getting off to a good start is crucial in elimination races as you get very little time to make up lost ground on the front-runners. So, you should upgrade acceleration as much as you can before an elimination race. Then your hydrojet will get off the starting grid that much more quickly for a faster start in the race.To get the very fastest start for elimination events, upgrade the Boost Start as much as possible with skill points. The Boost Start enables players to boost off the starting grid at the beginning of races. To execute a Boost Start, you need to tap the boost button at exactly the same time the three green lights blink on. A Boost Start will usually be enough to thrust you into the top two or three positions at the start of races.

This game is crazy good right off the rip but I really love it now that I've adjusted to thecontrols and changed tilt to arrow (personal preference, I guess. This game is fun, thegraphics, physics and sound effects are top notch (love the Doppler effect) and theplayability and variance make it fun to come back to again and again. I don't do muchonline stuff so I'm only playing career and single race and it's WELL worth the pricetag.ONLY COMPLAINT SO FAR? would love to be able to adjust the size and positioningof the directional arrows, boost etc. (like on Wreckfest). Great game, installed it based on the great reviews and a recommendation from an onlineblog. Hate playing games where someone else with a credit card gets ahead. This levelsthe playing field and I believe is well worth the price. I'm always on the lookout for newapps, not big on racing games ... more strategy then anything. But it's simple andcomplex enough that just about anyone would enjoy it. Graphics are refined but notoverbearing or so intricate that they render odd or drain your device resources ....gameplay fluidity and physics feel great. I'm particular about that as I'm a fan of flightand simulator games. Decided to install today and found my self playing until my "lowbattery" notification made me realize how long I'd been on. Im not a big gamer, but thistruly is a classic arcade style game I want to keep around.
