Granny 4: The Rebellion is a popular horror escape game where players find themselves in a house inhabited by a terrifying grandpa and grandma. To escape, players must remain constantly vigilant. Because the grandmother is extremely sensitive to sound, players must explore the house without making a sound, using various objects in the environment to solve puzzles and find usable items and clues. Story:

The game begins with a short backstory: the protagonist walks in a forest late at night and comes near a huge house, where they soon notice s a rotting old woman wielding a baseball bat which knocks them out. They then later wake up on a bed in a room of the house.

The player has to look through the house, find items, use them and solve puzzles to get further while not getting attacked by various enemies such as Granny, Spider Mom, the Spider, the Crow and other hazards. The player has five days, or five attempts, to win the game; getting knocked out sends them to the next day, sending them to their initial spawn location, and after losing on the fifth day (or sixth after bonus day), the player is sent to a cutscene where the player gets killed (not on Practice mode). The player wins when they make it out the house through any of the three ways to do so, each locked by certain obstacles that the player must find ways to get by to win.

Granny is the titular main antagonist of the game who chases the player when she sees them, can hear any item falling, sets bear traps to trap them, and knocks them out when close enough. The player can hide using various hiding spots such as under beds, tables, cupboards, and wardrobes to avoid her chasing them, however, if they hide while being chased, Granny will shove them out their hiding spot and knock them out. The player can fight Granny, some means of doing such knock her out for a short time depending on the difficulty setting, and some put her at other disadvantages.

The player can shape the experience to their liking through settings at the options menu after pressing '"PLAY" on the main menu, such as the difficulty, having music on or off, dark fog that shortens how far they can see, and special themes (Nightmare, Halloween and Christmas) that changes the way the house looks, soundtrack and adds more enemies.
