World of Warships: Legends

World of Warships: Legends is a popular strategy naval warfare game where players choose from a variety of ships from numerous nations, selecting suitable commanders to participate in PvE or player-versus-player modes. Players control their ships, maneuvering and using their cannons to sink opponents and win the game. Each destroyer, cruiser, battleship, and aircraft carrier, as well as each commander, is based on real-world historical figures. Each commander has unique skills, requiring players to choose based on their ships and their own strategies to gain an advantage. The game will be continuously updated, introducing new ships, commanders, and seasonal events to bring players more enjoyment.

Gameplay:

There are 9 different nations for players to choose from. These are the United States, Japan, Great Britain, Germany, France, the Soviet Union, Italy, pan-Europe, and pan-Asia. Each nation's tech tree has many unique vessels to choose from, but they all fall into 4 main classes of ships. These classes are Destroyers, Cruisers, Battleships, and Aircraft Carriers.

Besides offering a huge collection of historically accurate vessels, there are multiple gamemodes for players to enjoy. There are currently three permanent modes, with event modes being released frequently. The first of these is a newly-released 'Training' mode, allowing players to practice their skills and map knowledge unhindered. The second is 'Versus AI,' a PvE gamemode that pits a team of players against a team of bots. This mode offers reduced rewards, but an easier gameplay experience. The third of the permanent modes is 'Standard.' This is the most popular gamemode, offering an experience that can be both incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding, mostly depending on how well players work together with their teams.

WOWS: Legends differs from World of Warships in a few ways. Battles are more action-packed and take place between smaller teams, the controls have been reworked, and more.

World of Warships: Legends features a variety of different commanders, each with their own playstyle and perks. It’s important players not only level the commanders up to make their fleet more effective, but also build a collection of these heroes so they can be used on several different ships with varying playstyles.

Strategies:

Utilize Cover and Angle: One of the most impactful strategies I’ve discovered in World of Warships: Legends is the importance of utilizing cover and proper angling. When I first started playing, I often found myself taking unnecessary damage because I didn’t use islands or terrain effectively.However, as I learned to position my ship behind cover and angle my armor toward enemy fire, I noticed a significant improvement in my survivability. Remembering to use cover and angle appropriately can make a huge difference in your battles.

Manage Cooldowns and Consumables Wisely: In my experience, managing cooldowns and consumables wisely can be a game-changer. There were times when I would use my Damage Control Party too early, only to regret it later when faced with multiple fires.Learning to save consumables for critical moments, such as repairing important modules or recovering a significant amount of health, has helped me turn unfavorable situations into victories. It took me some time to learn the optimal timing for using these consumables, but the results were well worth the effort.

Master Shell Types and Aim: Mastering the different shell types and improving my aim has been a rewarding journey. Initially, I struggled with choosing between AP and HE shells and often missed my shots due to poor aim. However, through practice and experience, I’ve become more proficient at targeting specific areas of enemy ships with the right shell type.Landing citadel hits with AP shells and consistently setting fires with HE shells has significantly increased my damage output and overall effectiveness in battles.

Good Positioning and Map Awareness is essential: Improving my positioning and map awareness has been crucial to my success in World of Warships: Legends. Early on, I would sometimes find myself isolated from my team or caught off guard by enemy movements.By actively checking the minimap, anticipating enemy positions, and positioning myself strategically to support my teammates, I’ve been able to contribute more effectively to our team’s objectives. Good positioning and map awareness have helped me avoid unnecessary risks and capitalize on opportunities during battles.

Personally I have been playing this game for some time on PS5 and love it, I have played the PC version of the game but I prefer this one it takes more of a thought on balance.If you have played any World of warships game and love it, you may like this one due to a bigger player base on PlayStation and Xbox being merged into one!

I've played this game on Xbox for ages and the UI, Menu sound effects and everything else was amazing. Having moved to PC I was thrilled to hear the game is coming to the platform however I cannot express my disappointment over how poor the menu and especially UI looks compared to console, it even sounds different for no obvious reason and is over complicated.Please bring the console menu SFX audio back and give PC the Console UI, I don't see a reason this was necessary, or give the player the ability to customise it as the default version has very bad flow and information communication.Despite this having way too many hours in this game, I must recommend it especially if they respond well to this review. A few frame drops here and there but as I game dev myself I understand this should get fixed and is a casualty of day 1 release issues.

I've played since launch way back in 2020.. Played it with the boys night after night for years on Xbox. I have 7000+ battles on my service record, and only 1000 of them are in the PvP modes (Me and my old Xbox division mates prefered PvE). And your earnings are cut in half playing Versus AI, so you'll progress faster than I did.Although it's not pay-to-win, it can be pay-to-progress. Premium time/ships remove a lot of the games grind, and the majority of the ships in the game are premium (about 2/3rds). There are plenty of powerful ships in the game for free (Even premiums for GXP), but the more interesting or rarer ships are pretty much always paid for.And although you can pull the premium ships from free crates and playing, they can be pretty rare drops outside of certain event crates (black friday, super santa, ETC). I used to use my Microslop points on xbox to buy doubloons and bought a $10 campaign every now and then out of pocket. And over the years I've slowly built up an armada of premiums through the many free methods (About 50).All and all. If you fine with grindy games, just want a time sink, like naval combat specifically, or are someone who's ok with dropping some money on a "free-to-play" game.. You'll enjoy your time in WoWsL.
