Merry Christmas everyone!

It's been a while, hasn't it? I've been extremely busy with university studies for the past two months and haven't posted that much under the period, with I'd like to apologize for. However I'm here to ensure you that the game isn't dead and share some of the things we've been working on. Let's jump straight into it!

General Changes

Gallery Rework: Just as promised, the gallery has been fully reworked, with changing backgrounds and better tab organization.  Event sex scenes are now also featured!

Perma-Death removed: You may now grind the EXP for as long as you'd like as the perma-death mechanics for the enemies has been removed as requested. If you would want to revisit the naughty scenes outside the gallery you are now also free to do so! Now that I'm thinking about it, should probably also give an option to replay the boss battles.

New Areas: Don't want to spoil too much, but we've made some good progress on the level building, adding many new dialogues and areas. This is the bulk of the work we've been focused on, since most of what we wanted to add gameplay-wise in already there. As mentioned in the previous posts, I added secret areas to the levels for the fun of it!

Minor Visual Changes: Enemies and other entities now flash white when damaged. Among other things, projectile hit particle effects have been reworked. Particle effects in general, now use a different system which contributes to a better optimization.

Upgrade Menu Improvements: Smooth animations and value displays in the upgrade menu!

Art & Sexy Stuff

Changing Scene: Raki has finished up the changing scene in the beginning of the beach area.

Forest-Beach Transition Scene: He has also redrawn and rewritten the transition scene between two levels.

Animation Reworks

Something that I've been unhappy about for a long time are the animations (which practically are the cornerstone of the game lol). So we've sat down and finally standardized the animations in a way where they are both aligned with the style of the game and detailed enough to smoothly capture the movement.

Ramkal has been working on redrawing the current animations to be smoother and aligned with the established style. Hopefully, all of them will be ready until the upcoming release!

Sound Design

New music themes / Ambience: 3 new music themes for the new areas, events and boss battles. Additionally, expanded ambience for level immersion!

New Sex Sounds: Currently working on reworking the sex sound system, adding new sounds for variation and making it all fit together nicely.

Bugfixes

Improved Bibi AI: Smarter Bibi AI now prevents her from getting stuck at obstacles as often!

Water Splash Audio Bug: Audio bug where you could sometimes hear water splash sound when you entered the level has been fixed.

Noclip: Bug that occurred when two entities stood on top of you while you were in a sex scene. Upon escaping you would often fall down into the void. Now fixed.

Challenges: A more challenging bug that we didn't have much luck tackling at the moment is control unresponsiveness on Android. It is both hard to reproduce it and find where it comes from, but there are suspicions it is linked to overall optimization of the game, which we will aim to improve in the future.

Wouldn't want spoiling everything for you, so this is where I'm gonna end the post :") Before releasing the update, we would like to first fully finish the level, hope you guys understand. By my estimations, we will be done with it around January.

Comments:

Holy shit I have so many bones to pick with this damn game. First off, The screen is really small and I can't see shit below me. Right now I'm only in the beginner stages and I keep falling into pits. The combat system is also really janky because the input lag is caused by the animations for your attacks being so long. I am STRUGGLING ON THIS FIRST BOSS because it is so hard to get used to these janky ass attack controls. The dodging is also really weird because I have to be facing the direction I want to dodge which is not great so please maybe fix that? It also feels like I am hitting the enemy sometimes but it just doesn't register for some reason? Also Maybe add more indications on when an enemy is going to attack? For example maybe like a slight flash of red or smth like a millisecond before they attack instead of when the attack animation starts. Idk just venting my frustrations bc of my skill issue but please take these into consideration.

Damn! You guys really do a great job on this. Now I'm even more hyped for the next update since we know what we can expect. There are so many great additions and improvements and holy shit, the new animation look so clean now! Please keep adding new features for the gallery! We got animations and CG's there and I hope we will see much more in the future as I can't have enough of this. In my opinion, there should be a gallery section for all music themes as well. One thing I'm not satisfied with is the layout for the buttons and the delayed input of the left arrow is really something that sucks. But I know you are already on it to fix this and I will wait for it patiently no matter how long it will take. At the end we will get an even more polished game that's worth waiting just a bit longer.

I've never felt angrier using mobile controls. The controls are finicky and in the first boss fight, the bear's icon blocks the dodge button. If I could modify where the buttons were, I'd have much less of a problem. The game itself is pretty simple, and I like it, but the mobile version kinda sucks. I put up with half an hour of the buttons not responding. I'll try the PC version and try my luck there.

So, got a chance to play the latest public build... and enjoyed all of the new platforming challenges (minus one segment with an enemy placed next to a ledge with a low ceiling and a pit that required a delayed and precise jump dash to be get past, but that's besides the point). I enjoy all of the new story bits and Chiro in her journey to become a fry cook (lol). However, there is one glaring issue that does kind of spoil the fun for me: the new combat system. The Parry mechanic single handedly breaks the entire game's combat structure and actively trivializes every encounter. Blocking removes the knockback you suffer from getting hit, removing the risk associated with fighting enemies near edges. Parring stuns the enemy for so long that you can kill it before it recovers. The HP and Attack boosts you can get make already easy fights even easier. The fact that attacks are no longer tied to your stamina, but enemies still suffer from hit stun means mashing your way to victory is even more viable than it was before (no blocking or dashing required). The boss fight against the bear used to be an extremely hard fight that required learning proper timing to be able to dodge his attacks, jump over him to avoid the corner and attack during the brief pauses in his rotation to slowly inch towards victory. That kind of challenge was why I stuck around with the project and got excited to see what could become of it... that challenge is gone now. All of his attacks are so easily telegraphed that it's harder to do the fight without accidentally parrying him and you do so much damage that the fight is over in seconds.

Conclusion:

Gamer Struggles is a 2D adventure game with rich content, rich plot, and varied actions, aimed at adult audiences. It all started when the protagonist grew tired of her lifestyle, and after both the neighbors and the homeowner grew tired of it, she was kicked out of the rental apartment. She had no choice but to travel on the streets of the city, searching for shelter. This is very difficult, considering the female protagonist's lack of social skills and the fact that the world she lives in is a very cruel and vulnerable place.
