The Ministry of Social Affairs has launched this new technology through an application called "Cek Bansos." As the name suggests, this application is used to check government-provided social assistance.

Within this application, users can view all information, including recipient verification, proposals, and objections. To improve the accuracy of social assistance disbursement, the Ministry of Social Affairs has updated its functions. The two new functions are "Proposal" and "Objection."

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, the government has been actively distributing social assistance to affected residents. However, the distribution process has been heavily criticized due to inaccurate targeting of recipients. This inaccuracy has existed since the assistance program's inception. The Ombudsman pointed out that among the numerous complaints received, issues related to social assistance disbursement were the most frequent concern.

To address these issues, the Ministry of Social Affairs updated the "Proposal" and "Objection" functions. These functions allow the public to participate in controlling data updates. Public participation can also expedite the update process, thereby assisting local governments in their work.

How do I apply for social assistance

Download the application

This app is available in app stores. Search for "social assistance inquiry app" and confirm that the developer is the Ministry of Social Affairs, as there are many similar apps.

Register

You must register first, as only user IDs verified and activated by the Ministry of Social Affairs administrator can access the "Proposal" and "Oppose" menus.

When registering, please prepare your Family Card (Kartu Keluarga), National Identity Card Number (NIK), and National Identity Card (KTP). The application form will require you to provide a photo of your National Identity Card.

After registering, please enter the verification code sent to your email address. Afterward, you will need to wait for staff to verify your information.

Once registration is successful, you can access the menus in the social assistance verification application.

Select a menu

To inquire about social assistance recipient information, you can select the "Inquire about Social Assistance" menu. This section contains information such as the recipient's region and name. Then, select the "Eligibility Inquiry" menu.

If you wish to recommend social assistance recipients, select the "Recommendation List" menu and add your recommendations. Account holders can respond to beneficiaries deemed ineligible for assistance by selecting the "OK" or "No" icon.

After selecting an icon, account holders must provide reasons and explanations and submit their response. This information will be entered into the Ministry of Social Affairs system for further processing.

In addition, account holders can directly register themselves, family members, other individuals, or other people in need using the "Add Proposal" button. If a family member is nominated, all family members must be on the same family card.

For each column of the proposal menu, all data must match the population data, as it will be directly matched against Dukcapil data, just like the registration menu.

The "Select Social Assistance Type" menu will only appear if the entered NIK number is in the DTKS database. Successfully submitted data will include name, NIK number, Dukcapil compliance status, and the region matching the family card (KK) applicant.
