How to Use

Open Files by Google and check the Clean tab. Review the suggested items and tap Confirm to free up to remove what you no longer need.

Go to the Browse tab to find content by type. Use search or filters to quickly locate large videos, downloads, or documents.

After you find what you want to share, tap Share and choose Quick Share. Select the nearby device and confirm the code to start an encrypted offline transfer.

Then open the Browse tab and select files to back up. Choose Save to cloud to send them to Google Drive or another cloud app installed on your phone.

So you can free local space, insert an SD card or USB drive if available. Select Move to transfer files from internal storage to the external drive.

Look, Files by Google isn't an app any of us expected to leave a review for but damn if it isn't handy when cleaning up your phone. Deletion suggestions to free up storage, automatically identifying duplicate files and then the cutest little animated mascot to boot. I love this app. Little air guitar with the broom is a solid touch.

A very useful app when it works properly. A common problem is the clean command fails after a few uses. Other users have suggested ways to overcome this but unsuccessful. Would appreciate a reply from Google. Update, Google contacted me and problem resolved within 24 hrs. Many thanks!

For a while, I lost the ability to delete "junk files", it's nice to see that this feature has returned. It's a wonder how faulty "updates" get released on the general public, without even a beta test. But what do I know. it's a useful App, when working..
