User Reviews of MeWe:

Been using for about a week now. So far I like it better than FB! Bring and to see your contact only news feed is awesome as is the absence of annoying advertisements. Set up was fairly simple. Trying to go back and add an email on the app just kept giving me errors, but when I used a computer it worked. Give it time and don't get frustrated. Just click around and learn and leave the evil FB forever!

I've had this ao for almost 2 years. At first was very confusing and the bots were terrible. Thankfully thats under control now. Give it time. Lots of people are switching from the Dark side so the mewe ap is going to be a little glitchy. I've never been asked to pay for anything. There are options for extras that you have to pay for but the reg mewe profile is free. Groups are free. To have a business page its 1.99 a month. Love this ap.

Mewe is a beautiful place if you find the right groups. I also have a lot of control over my social life using it. Doesnt feel addicting to use. It is difficult to find other people though. Actually, all my follows come from other networks. Which is fine to some degree if it remains a healthy experience. App could use some streamlining, especially with setting up notifications. I like the customization.

This has some serious potential. Only issue I see is the massive call to action to pay for premium. At this stage of the app, I'd for sure minimize that for now until that platform matures a bit more, then go in with the premium. Because as of now, soon as I seen that there was a subscription; I was going to back out and not even give it a try until I seen the tiny little "skip" button below.

How many people will I be able to follow and is there a limit?

Switching to a Public Profile allows users to have more than 8,000 followers, with no limit on the number of followers for public accounts.Up to 8,000 people can follow a Private Profile, and if this limit is exceeded, users will be prompted to make their account public. You cannot follow more than 8000 people, regardless of whether your account is public or private.

Will anyone on mewe be able to comment on, or emoji my posts if I am public?

Yes, for now. Soon we will provide you with even more control by allowing you to choose if anyone can interact with your public posts or only the people you follow.

What are Favorites?

When creating a post, you can make it private so that only your followers can see it; open so that it’s visible to anyone on MeWe; or only visible to a Favorites list of select people you choose. You have the option to create a Favorites list with up to 200 people, and share posts only with them. When creating a post on your timeline, select Favorites from the postbox and then select who you want to be on your Favorites list. Only you can see your list of Favorites. People on your Favorites list will know they are on the list but cannot see who else is on your list.

Conclusion:

MeWe combines a social network and messaging app around one unusually clear promise: no targeted advertising and no algorithmic reshuffling of the feed. Its familiar posts, groups, and chats make that privacy-minded approach easier to grasp than its newer decentralized identity pitch.
