The story of this game is weird, but I mean weird in a really good way. I do not actually want to give to much away as it has a few twists and turns that I think make A House in the Rift really stand out from other visual novel games I have played lately.I will give you the basics of what are going on. You are pretty much an average joe who after a science experiment gone wrong finds himself stuck in a strange house that is literally nowhere. It would be terrible, but luckily there are some hot women here to keep you company and who cares if they are not all technically human?

The gameplay at first seems like your typical visual novel game. You can move around the house, go into different rooms and so on. You can interact with things, pick things up, and most importantly of all, talk to people. A House in the Rift has some good writing and the girls that you talk to all have something to say and figuring out what the right thing to say, do or even give them is how you move the game forward. I was kind of surprised to see that A House in the Rift has a combat system. It is pretty basic and you do your attacks the same way you talk to people by selecting one of the options that pop up in the middle of the screen. However, this was a really nice touch and it certainly made the game much more exciting for me. The only thing I did not like was sometimes the characters and the backgrounds did not feel like they meshed quite right.

This is a 3D visual novel game and it features some awesome work on the characters. There is a great mix of characters for you to interact with and I came across some awesome sex scenes in the game. What I liked about these was that they were far more animated than you would think.Actually, the whole game even if it is just a frame or two will move quite often which I think makes it more interesting than just looking at still pictures all of the time.
