Storyline & Background:

After studying abroad in Europe for three years, you’ve finally returned to your hometown. However, during those three years, your hometown has changed significantly. Being part of “The Project”, it has grown into something much more than just a city exceeding everyone’s expectations… Or something like that, right? I mean, you didn’t really look into it while studying abroad… And don’t you have some genetic test thing you’re already late for?During the 2020s the world is at a boiling point. Global conflicts are looming just under the surface, waiting only for the smallest of sparks. A tension that has fostered growth and the hunt for next-generation technologies. The alluring promise of exotic technologies such as AI, robotics, quantum computing, and so on puts everyone on the edge of their seats. Painfully aware of how much each of these can disrupt the balance of power. How a single breakthrough can put every power player at risk. No longer a matter of getting that competitive edge, but suddenly a desperate fight for survival. A fight you’re about to stumble backwards into…How will you survive?Will you liberate? Or dominate?The choice is yours…… And what does consciousness have to do with any of this?

Gameplay & Plot:

"Consciousness" is a sci-fi visual novel set in the dystopian 2020s. You are a student returning home after three years in Europe, now involved in an "artificial intelligence and quantum computing project." You undergo genetic testing, uncover conspiracies, and influence global conflicts. In a short time, you arrive at a train station, admire neon skyscrapers, get a checkup at a clinic, or meet with a suspected contact. Every decision you make changes the plot, and the city comes alive: screens flicker, people whisper. Scenes are filled with tension, such as when a system interface suddenly appears in your mind or you evade patrols. You feel the weight of your new reality.

This novella offers multiple branching paths, where your choices will determine whether you can survive the power struggle or uncover the role of consciousness in technology. The novel creates a dystopian atmosphere and focuses on the themes of power balance and breakthrough. You will grow by interacting with various factions, from corporations to rebels, and completing missions such as hacking and diplomacy. The first chapter focuses on regression and trials, and includes animation and dating simulation elements. Try this path for yourself and change the world.

Author's Note:

The first patch is out with a replay gallery and now it is possible to avoid the two final scenes of Chapter 1. You will still get the scenes in the replay gallery if you avoid them but the choice still matters and will have an impact. So not just skipping. Also made changes to some of the dialogue so it made more sense and of course some grammar corrections. There'll be one more patch coming out for Chapter 1. with character pages, credits and more before the "normal" releases continue. And so far it might look like it'll have to be in parts for Chapter 2. at least to start off with but I'll give you some more info about that soon.
