This is a fun, meditative game that you can complete a run easily within 15-25 minutes depending on if you choose to be more aggressive going after somewhat smaller celestial bodies or just drift gathering stellar dust. Except in selecting milestone powerups, you drift along with one handed directional movement while listening to a show, podcasts, or your dog snoring blissfully 20 feet away (or roughly 6 M if "Freedom units" aren't your teacup..).

Yes, it is just like Solar 2 with better graphical quality. However, it is more challenging. I was able to get all that Solar 2 had to offer in my first playthrough, even though I am not a great gamer. Drifter Star: Evolution is a bit more challenging and has a few achievements that represent multiple paths of winning. At $3.99 USD, this is a no brainer for me and you. I'm still trying to win any achievements aside from the one that you get from losing the first time, lol. Still having fun playing, though.

I like this game a lot. It’s quite chill and looks very Steam Deck–friendly.I think there are some quick improvements that could take the game to another level.1) After reaching the threshold to upgrade the level, it would be great to give the player the option to upgrade whenever they want. This would allow players to enjoy each level more. I’d love to play longer in the last 3–4 levels, but I became too overpowered and ended up skipping levels very quickly, sometimes with only 30–40 seconds (or less) of gameplay per level.2) When you reach 10–12 planets, the stable orbiting looks really nice, but there are too many large enemies chasing the player, leaving no time to actually enjoy the visual.3) The first level feels a bit too boring, there are almost no enemies that can be meaningfully fought. I’d gladly trade 3–4 minutes of early-game gameplay for more time in the final 3–4 levels.4) Maybe adding more random events (both positive and negative) could increase variety.5) Temporary power-ups that appear on the ground could also be fun and add moment-to-moment decisions.6) Some optional, time-freezing cinematics could be great. For example, supernova explosions look amazing, but you can’t really enjoy them because of chasing enemies. Maybe these events could be highlighted when hovered over and allow the player to trigger a short cinematic or real-time animation when clicked (especially since the mouse doesn’t have much to do otherwise).
