Ellen Ripley is a mother. Understandably, her daughter, Amanda Ripley-McLaren, suffered immense trauma after her mother's spaceship, the Nostromo, disappeared in deep space. Knowing nothing of her mother's fate, the young woman works for the Weyland-Ultani Corporation on the edge of the galaxy, hoping to find clues about her mother's destiny. One day, the inhabitants of the Sevastopol space station discover the Nostromo's black box, giving her the opportunity to uncover the truth.

Upon arriving in Sevastopol, Amanda quickly realized the dire situation. During her spacewalk to the space station, she lost her other crew members and was left alone in the hostile environment of the station.

In fact, since each enemy can overwhelm you instantly with sheer numbers or power, your first reaction is to run and hide. Your instincts are right, because the only way to survive in the terrifying world of Sevastopol is through strategy, evasion, and stealth.

This was immediately proven true during my first (real) encounter with the Alien in the game. Using the game's convenient controls, I peered over the railing of a corridor and watched helplessly as the Alien easily wiped out a squad of armed human survivors. The monster disappeared into the ventilation ducts, and I thought I was safe to proceed to my destination. Suddenly, a crackling sound made me realize that my footsteps might have given me away. I whirled around and found them…

Back at my last manual save point (be sure to save regularly), I began to retrace my steps. The previous experience left me shaken; I moved silently along the corridor, hoping to be better prepared to escape this time. I leaned out again, waiting for it to leap in through the vent, but this time it charged at me—it whooshed past me, completely unaware of my presence, and I froze. Perhaps I escaped by sheer luck, but I learned an important lesson: alien actions are not pre-programmed; it could find me at any moment.
