Gameplay:

As soon as you set foot on The Island, you are greeted in the friendliest way possible. You are attacked by a stupid dodo. You are probably wondering, “What is a dodo that is attacking me?” Yes, it is an extinct bird that can annoy you to the core. But that is just the beginning, they are even at the bottom of the food chain in ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition. The map “The Island” is a living world with dozens of different dinosaurs, Spinosaurus, Yutirannus and of course the T-Rex, the most powerful carnivorous dinosaur.

In ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, building and survival are key. You start by picking up branches and small stones to craft basic tools. Then, you will build your base, a small tent, and gradually build it up. Rest assured that once you get into the house and close the door, the danger is considered gone. But remember, no place is absolutely safe when large dinosaurs are always lurking to destroy your efforts.

In addition, creating your own weapons and tools is equally important and they all have to be created with your own hands. ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition will be a bit different from other survival games you play because you can use the dinosaurs you tame to fight or exploit resources. However, there are still times when you have to use a little human “technology” instead of relying on dinosaurs, such as when using poison arrows to increase TURBO for enemies, or there are areas where mounts are prohibited, then you have to do it yourself!

Useful Tips:

Travel

The  Wooden Raft is great for brand new players, because most creatures will ignore the raft and its driver while the raft is being driven, making a raft (while driving) one of the safest places to be in the very early game (especially on PvE). However, beware of deep water and  Leedsichthys as they can damage rafts and destroy them in a few hits, stay close to the shoreline to avoid them. The raft can offer tribes an opportunity to hunt  Megalodon by firing a  Crossbow from the raft while someone on an  Ichthyosaurus kites the shark around. Wooden Raft is also a good source of XP in the early stage.

While riding or facing a dino you can press the F, X, or Square to access the ridden dino's inventory.

High weight creatures such as  Parasaur or  Iguanodon can carry goods and still be able to escape predators.

Hunting Strategies

Using tamed carnivores like Raptors, Carnos, and Rexes are a good way to hunt for meat and hide but make sure your creature of choice is capable of handling your prey of choice.

You can lure carnivores to other dinosaurs and leave them to fight each other, leaving you with a weaker dinosaur and free resources.

Knocking a dino unconscious can be quicker than going straight for the kill.

Keep an eye on nearby herbivores. If you see them running, they are either fleeing or fighting a nearby predator.

Crafting  Bolas is a great hunting tool to both capture or escape from small legged dinos hunting you such as  Raptors.

Every beginning Survivor should have  Spears in their possession for both defending and hunting.

When in the inventory of a creature or container, hover over an item and press T to easily transfer that item to your own inventory, or vice-versa.

To get early meat and hide, kill passive and slow creatures like Dodos, Jerboas, Bulbdogs as they don't fight back, it is also an easy source of early game experience. Simple weapons like Spears, Bow and Arrows, and Tools are good to kill these small targets.

Environment

Strengthen your senses and plan what you think you might need, if you live in or near a cold biome, carry extra  Torches,  warm clothing, and other things that will help with local dinos and your warmth.

Try to avoid swimming until fully equiped to deal with its dangers. The Ocean is inhabited by  Megalodon and other dangerous creatures who can aggro on you from very far away. Inland rivers and lakes are often filled with  Megapiranha which can quickly overwhelm you with their numbers.

You can easily escape insects by diving under water. But keep an eye out for  Piranhas, as they are very dangerous early on.

Player Comments:

The game has issues and is starting to look a bit dated, but overall, it has been (and still is) one of my favorite games - let alone survival games - of all time. As of writing this, I have over 1200 hours in. It is easily as addicting as Minecraft for base building, probably moreso due to the creature taming and breeding aspects, and then add in the craziness of cave diving, treasure hunting, alphas, and boss battles, multiple maps, each with their own story elements, creatures, and trials. You will not have a lack of things to keep you occupied.Cons: building could be better (though I've been told this is fixed in the Ark 1.5 version), AI gets a bit wonky - so I do recommend mods on this version for quality of life.

ARK: Survival Evolved was one of the best periods of my life and I honestly dont have the words to describe how much fun this game brought me.If you ever get the chance to play it I highly recommend it. That said I strongly suggest starting with PvE first because if you jump straight into PvP I can almost guarantee you’ll hate it.I also recommend avoiding official servers as they can be difficult for casual players. Once you have some experience with the game try exploring other maps such as Ragnarok and Fjordur which are free and Scorched Earth which is unfortunately paid.And most importantly play with friends. It’s a thousand times better that way. Playing solo isnt bad but with friends the experience is on a completely different level.

The Devs of this game have a long history of deceit and scamming their fan base. They stole assets from their previous company to make this game, they were sued and had to pay $40 million dollars. To cover those costs they delivered a PAID DLC for their unfinished Early Access game AND half assed out half baked console versions of the game that barely functioned.Instead of devoting time to making their game function and play well, they instead kept pumping out content to help cover their legal fees. After they milked those plans for as much as they could they got the bright idea to make a "New game" called Atlas that was quite literally an Ark Expansion in disguise that they tried to play off as a new full game. Their were even hidden Ark logo and assets in a secret menu on the pause screen that labeled it as an "Ark Ocean". They did this under a new company name as well to make it seem like this was a brand new game, from a new dev.Their next big cash grab scam was Teasing Ark II WHILE Ark 1 is still currently in Early Access and unfinished, on top of that, they decided to also Remaster the first game in its unfinished state. They first released the Remaster bundled with Ark II as the only way to get it, and then decided to make the remaster a standalone purchase while ALSO shutting down the original Ark official servers forcing players to then buy the remaster to continue playing the game.That brings us to current day and Ark Aquatica, another Paid DLC for the NON remaster of Ark, the game that they completely abandoned for the remaster that everyone went out and bought after they shut down official servers. They effectively tried to get everyone to buy the remaster, to kill the remaining player base of the non remaster only to come back and release new paid content for the original that is just reused assets from the Atlas game I mentioned before.The people at studio wildcard are horrible evil people. Under no circumstances should you ever give them any of your money.
