Strategies:

Eye for goal: As well as the movement in Rocket League Sideswipe being different, the other aspect you’ll notice that has changed is the position of the goals. From your very first training session you’ll notice they sit above the main level of the arena, up a quarterpipe. This means simply running the ball goalwards won’t work, and you need to be more considered to get the ball in the net.Using momentum to roll the ball up the quarterpipe and then flying and knocking it into the goal is a good tip but requires timing or a helpful teammate to pull off. The goals themselves are also quite large vertically making aerial shots via flying and jumping much more viable options, albeit tricky to pull off in the moment.

Know your Arena: Similar to Rocket League, in Sideswipe there are also different arenas to choose from. The three arenas in Rocket League Sideswipe are Shortstack, S.C. Field, and Dunk House. Shortstack is the arena you complete your training on and keeps things small. S.C. Field gives you more room to manoeuvre with a longer stretching arena and higher-placed goalmouths also.

Dunk House changes things up slightly and the goals are instead basketball hoops. Those used to the Hoops mode from Rocket League will know what to expect here. Here the challenge is to get the ball into the hoop from above. Your car can move through the hoops at both edges, but the ball can’t. Aerial movement is key here to keep the ball high and land in the fairly generous-sized hoops.

Understand your opponent: Perhaps one of the most interesting (but sensible) changes to Rocket League Sideswipe from the original game is your contact with other players. In Rocket League, part of the game was a contact sport and disrupting others was a much part of winning as scoring at the other end. However in Rocket League Sideswipe, you ghost through other players, so cannot disrupt their movement. Similarly, your momentum won’t be impeded by them either.As such, focus your movement entirely on where you want to be in relation to the ball, be it to put yourself in a scoring position, or to defend against another team’s assault on your goal.

Rush from kickoff: As in the original Rocket League, the rush to hit the ball first in Rocket League Sideswipe still seems to be the correct approach. And with the position of the goals, this can sometimes lead to a quick surprise goal if your opponents are caught napping. To do this make sure you are facing the ball, and are using boost towards the ball at kickoff. Then double-tap the jump button whilst still keeping the direction pressed to do a Dodge flip towards the ball, giving you extra speed and momentum. Best-case scenario the ball will bounce towards your opponent’s goal, worst-case scenario, you’ve prevented your opponent an early chance on your own net.

I play the game literally everyday, it's an awesome game, simple yet hard, with practiceanyone could become really good, but there are just some problems I've encountered,after the new update to the rocket pass it's much harder to obtain items and boring tolevel up since there's nothing new, at level 130 the creates given by leveling up glitchedand didn't let me open any until level 150 which took a while but then I was able to open20 boxes all at once, but it created another issue, the badge border that I was trying toprestige glitched and took me back to Gold I was at Onyx Xl and now back at Gold I and itwon't go up, kinda lame. A lot of items that I'm missing are only in the leveling up crates,I have all the items on the token crates and daily mystery item, now it's much harder toobtain colored items or items I'm missing to complete the sets. Awesome game, just wishthey would fix these bugs and make it more accessible to obtain items by playing thegame, new items would be awesome, maybe tournaments by ranks, trade items withother players, they should make the tokens accesible to buy with real money so at leastthey get revenue to keep updating and making the game better. I will still play the gamebut it's slowly losing popularity because new seasons just don't bring any excitement tothe game, just give you a title for the rank you reached and maybe a banner but that's it,should bring new items PLEASE!

Sideswipe is a great2D implementation of Rocket League, but there are some big flawswith the current implementation of touch control!: It is practically impossible to do flipreset chains with only thumbs because your right thumb must can only be in so manyplaces at once. I'm required to use three fingers to play, which is very uncomfortable. Agood solution may be allowing you to decide which side of the screen acts as a half flipbutton. That way, the right thumb isn't stuck with so many controls.2: The iPhone screenedges interfere with gameplay. It's really easy to swipe down the notification panel giventhat I have to use my index finger in addition to my thumbs to play. There's also the issueof the accidental swiping out of the game from the bottom, which I hope could be fixedwith some kind of lock mechanism.Side note: The lag can be really bad sometimes andcause the car and/or ball to appear like it's teleporting around the field. There should bea flag where if there is significant packet loss, the game is paused briefly with acountdown to resume or a goal is not counted. I typically play on incredibly strong wifiwith ~13ms ping and over 1gb/s speeds, so to be having severe connection issuesfrequently in the first place is pretty shocking. Please improve servers!

I've always loved Rocket League ever since my younger brother first showed it to me. Butas the years passed after playing it so much, the community has sadly grown more toxic,the items and cosmetics system became too much of a cash cow and didn't make thegame fun anymore. Regardless I still play a match or two or twenty once in a while eitherwith friends or just against bots. When I first heard the official news about a mobileversion of Rocket League will be releasing I thought,"Oh great, just another mobile gameas an excuse to have micro transactions and take more money from people.' At the sametime the idea of being able to play Rocket League whenever I wanted excited me. I almostnever play mobile games anymore, but after downloading this I became hooked almostimmediately. The controls definitely take some getting used to so tutorials and free playtraining are recommended, as well as some matches against bots while raising thedifficulty levels once you start getting the hang of it. I've only had this game for a fewdays and I'm already in silver rankings on2v2's and a tier level that I never thought Iwould reach in such short a time. I'm so glad that I'm this excited about Rocket Leagueagain and I can't wait to play more!
