As with other units the Infantry Units should also be upgraded in the HQ.

Artillery: Artillery have the highest damage output in the game, albeit the lowest health and mobility. The Battalion Artillery is excellent when fighting head to head, however, they fall short when engaging against 2 range units, notably super tank and field artillery. Field artillery is able to attack at 2 range, and with very high damage and low cost to compliment the base kit. However, you will have a higher chance to receive retaliation than rocket artillery. In stark contrast, rocket artillery will never receive retaliation, making it the ideal candidate in 1980 conquest spam, however it cannot retaliate, unlike the field artillery. It also can deal splash damage of two hexes behind your target, friend or foe included, and comes with a higher cost. Using the rocket or field artillery is a matter in a trade off of single-point damage (field artillery) with survivability and collateral damage (rocket artillery).

Armors: Armored Cars are equipped with machine guns, and thus, excellent against infantry. They also have the highest health/cost ratio of all units in the game, excellent for holding a city. Tanks have the assault skill, which enables them to fire more than once if they defeat an enemy. However, they are handicapped with low damage and one range, making it sub-optimal to use in challenge conquests, operations and campaigns alike. Additionally, the lack of machine gun hampers damage towards infantry, and consequently lower healing for expropriation. The Heavy Tank has both the assault skill and machine guns. Heavy tanks are faced with a similar issues with the medium tank, albeit with higher attack, machine gun and health, but with a higher cost. It is not optimal to use your best tank generals on this unit, unless it is the best unit available. **The Super Tank (the most powerful unit in the game)** has the range of a Field Artillery, in addition to having the highest health of all land units. Putting Commanders, even a weak one, can boost your Armored forces easily. Note that Artillery will still deal heavy damage to all Armored units.

Naval Units: Naval units in commanders are of lesser importance in World Conqueror 3 due to their limited usage and reduced damage to land units. A wolf pack of Submarines will deal massive damage to Capital Ships (avoid using them against Destroyers and embarked land units). Destroyer are the weakest unit in the navy, but are cheaper and faster than battleships and are useful for sub-hunting and escorting. Battleships have the highest naval HP in the game and have the ability to attack from 2 spaces, like a Field Artillery. Carriers are the best for taking out land units, Submarines, and Destroyers. However, Carriers require escorts due to their fragility. A damaged Carrier's bombing will be reduced as well, making low-HP Carriers less effective. Do not spawn any naval units unless for placeholding purposes in challenge conquests, and avoid placing commanders in these units unless absolute necessary.

Fortifications: Your (very weak) defense against invasions. The Bunker houses machine guns and is relatively cheap. The Land Fort is mainly for bombarding Armors and Artillery. The Coastal Artillery are barely functional against Naval Units but land units, they will not be effective. What it is effective against is cities, since it deals more damage against cities. (I know it does not make sense but that's the game for ya). Place these to target high health cities is an effective way of wither the health away from the city. Land Mines are excellent defenses. The enemy cannot destroy land mines except for detonating them. Place several in strategic locations to block the enemy or force them to take heavy damage. Additionally, paratroopers cannot land on Land Mines. Note that Assault Infantry and Commandos take reduced damage when detonating land mines.
