Storyline:

Riley's spent his whole life in Porthwarren. He flows with a steady pace, drifting from one part-time-job to the next. As certain as the tide rolls in and out, Riley's resigned to the ebb and flow of this routine. 

He's grown up with a good group of friends, but time and circumstance has brought distance between them. Ranzo works abroad on cargo ships, Billy studies north of the County, Sal has made herself busy with freelance work and Joe's settled into his cloistered museum job. Like the old boats that sway in the harbour, memories of the group's better times are moored loosely, and risk drifting off for good.

Walking familiar paths around the town, Riley is reminded of somebody he clung to like a rock in stormy waters. Someone outside the group. Someone he'd loved. Though after ten years apart, memories of him are painted in fading watercolour.

As cool Spring air breathes life onto the land, the town prepares for it's yearly folk festival. With Billy on break from university and Ranzo catching a ship to port, it's the perfect time for a reunion. However, with this year's festival marking a special occasion, it may draw in more visitors than anticipated.

Characters:

Riley

Riley's always lived in Porthwarren.His friendships with Sal, Joe, Ranzo andBilly go back as far as he can remember,but as each of them have either movedaway or found full-time jobs, he feelscomparatively directionless.

Outside of sharing a flat with Sal orrunning into Joe, the town can be prettylonely, so he finds himself seeking"short-term friends" to pass the time.

At one point, there was somebody whohe wanted something more lasting with.It's all in the past, but with the future souncertain, it's hard not to think about it.

Ranzo

Ranzo was just a shy kid when his cousinEliza intoduced him to the group, but hesoon grew into the plucky, bright personhe is today. He even played in a bandwith Riley and Joe when they wereteenagers. Don't show him pictures ofhis haircut at the time.

Ranzo has been away working on cargoships abroad for four years, so he'seager to reconnect with everyone.

Joe

Alongside Sal, Joe is one of Riley's oldestfriends. He holds down a steady job atthe Local Maritime Museum, but isalways up for a drink after hours.Or sometimes before.

Outside of work, he's known to dabblewith synthesisers and other audioequipment, though he doesn't seemkeen on sharing it.

If there's one thing his friends know himfor, it's the fact he smokes like a chimney.Sal smoked for a while and cited herreason for quitting as "Joe smoked all ofmine anyway."

Sal

Since the group were in school, Sal'sbeen "the reliable one." She wears thatbadge with pride, even if some find herorganisational drive a bit intense.

After passing with a high mark from thelocal university, she received offers towork in the city, but chose to stickaround in Porthwarren.

She enjoys astronomy & reading aboutastronautical engineering. Her perfectevening hangout would be watching sci-fifilms with friends and pointing outpieces of obscure trivia.

Billy

Billy is headstrong, determined andconfident in his abilities. Though hisapproach to life has lead some to seehim as "brash and argumentative," he'sgotten a lot further than many peopleexpected of him.

With a partial leg amputation at 14 andthe start of his transition at 20, Billy hashad to jump through a lot of hoops toget where he needs to be. Despite abumpy start, he is currently studying at auniversity north of the County with asports scholarship.
