Plots of Among The Sleep:

Taking place during the 1990s, a toddler is celebrating their second birthday at their home with their mother. The party is then interrupted by a visitor at the front door who is hidden from the player, but the story suggests it is the toddler's father, who has divorced the mother. The conversation is muffled and partly kept from the toddler as the mother raises her voice, refusing the father's request to see his child. The mother's angry tone frightens the toddler, whose fear is presented as blurred vision. Quickly, the mother returns with a gift, but she does not say who the gift is from. Instead, she carries the toddler and the gift upstairs to their room, a place of bright, warm colors and streaming sunlight. The mother opens the gift, but looks at what is inside with a disdainful expression before shutting the gift box. Before the present is given to the toddler, the telephone rings, and the mother leaves the player in the bedroom to play alone. The gift is revealed to be a sentient teddy bear, who climbs out of the box and hides in the chest until the player finds him. The bear introduces himself as Teddy. Teddy has a friendly, curious nature. After a few minutes of playing together with a music box, a stuffed pink elephant, a storybook, and a toy train, they go into the closet, which turns out to be a large, dark room filled with long, dark-colored coats. Teddy says that if the toddler gets scared in the dark, they can hug him to help them feel safer. Once the player holds Teddy, he lights the way, acting like a flashlight. The small adventure is ended by the mother finding them; she tells the toddler, gently but ominously, to stop hiding from her and puts them to bed.

Later that night, Teddy is taken away from the toddler by an unseen force. The toddler goes after it and finds Teddy inside a washing machine. They unplug it and take him out. Teddy realizes that something is not right and that they must find the toddler's mother. Along the way, they encounter a shadowy figure. The search leads them to discover a slide that takes them to a small playhouse within the void, and the door found inside leads them into a journey through several surreal environments, consisting of an underground playground, a dilapidated mansion that has merged with a marshy forest, and a bizarre series of corridors created by hundreds of closets. Teddy instructs the toddler to find four memories they shared with their mother that will lead them to her. The memories take the form of four objects: The mother's pendant from her necklace shown at the start of the game, the music box she plays to put the toddler to sleep at night, the storybook, and the pink elephant. Throughout the search, the player is pursued by a large, feminine, troll-like monster and a creature with glowing white eyes, who has a coat as a body like the ones in the toddler's closet earlier.

After the last memory is found, Teddy and the toddler try to go through the slide that would lead back to the playhouse, but the coat monster grabs onto Teddy to stop the toddler from completing the last memory. The toddler hangs over an abyss and Teddy's arm is ripped off due to the toddler's weight. The player then falls into a dark place lit by a series of floodlights. The toddler follows the mother's voice and sees her drinking from a bottle as she transforms into the different monsters before disappearing. The toddler is left alone in the dark, with window lights coming up ahead, leading them back to the playhouse. After using the last memory and Teddy's torn arm to open the playhouse's door, the toddler sees cracks in a door that is straight ahead. Once through the door, the toddler is back in their room (having exited through the closet). The toddler heads downstairs to find their mother crying in the kitchen, with the damaged Teddy in one hand, and an empty wine bottle in the other, which she drops. When the toddler attempts to retrieve Teddy, the mother pushes the toddler away and snaps at them to leave her alone. She apologizes and tells the toddler she did not mean to, and that it is too much. The player has the option of briefly comforting the mother if they interact with her again.

There is a knock at the front door that the mother does not react to like she did before; instead, she continues to sob. When the toddler goes to the door, it opens and reveals a glowing white light. The father is heard talking to the toddler, remarking on Teddy's broken arm, stating that he can fix him. It is implied that the father wins full custody of the toddler after the game ends.

Among the Sleep is a horror game that has a really unique aproach to horror. But will you want to play this through ? In Among the Sleep you dont play as an adult but instead as a two year old child. The game begins and its our birthday and we get a teddy bear as a present. But one night you wake up to find out that the teddy bear and your mom is missing so its up to you to find them. So how is Among the sleep ? Im kinda mixed on this game honestly. The gameplay is smooth and its a blast to play but there are problems that weigh down the experience. First of all the game is just like amnesia. The main charecter is defensless and theres nothing you can do about it so you have to hide to get away from monsters. The game also throws in puzzles you need to solve to get to the end. So now for the pros and cons. Pros: The game looks amazing. Its just amazing to see a nightmare world through a childs eyes. The story has a great set up and the ending is also really good. Atmosphere is outstandng and its one of the best i have ever seen in a horror game. But now for the cons. The game is incredibly short only an hour to beat. Easy puzzles that dont feel like they should be there. Sometimes frustrating stealth segments. Confusing map layouts and sometimes wonky controls. Overall Among the Sleep is an excellent horror game but it has its fare share of problems. I highly suggest you get this game on a sale and not full priced and dont go in expecting a masterpiece and you should be all good. I give Among the Sleep a 7/10.

I love this game took me a while to finish but it is a great game showing how wild a child's imagination can be. I also love how the story unfolds and you start to understand why you are in this situation overall great game with a decent amount of scares in it not to terribly scary but just enough.9/10.

This game is creepy, so I occasionally have to stop playing and regain some nerve. I mostly play exploration games because I lack precise hand-eye coordination, and Among the Sleep is great for this. The controls are not too difficult to master, and I can figure out what I need to do without worrying that there will be consequences for doing something wrong; even when I die, its a quick respawn and continue from where I left off. Looking forward to seeing where this game takes me next!

Walkthrough of Among The Sleep:

Prologue

After being placed back in your crib, turn around and point towards the beach ball behind you. Press and hold RB then remove the ball from the tunnel and crawl through it.

Exit into the otherside of the tunnel and turn left, you'll see a red and blue platform. Stand in front of the platform and climb up by pressing A.

Climb up the fence and drop down on the opposite side, then make your way to the drawer where your mom placed the gift box. Once there, point to the bottom most drawer and press RB then drag it open.

Climb up the drawer and lift the gift box. Keep dragging the box until it falls on the floor, you'll find that it's empty.

Turn around and head for the chest near your crib. Lift up the cover of the chest and you'll find Teddy inside.

Follow him over to the otherside of the room and he'll ask you to cover your eyes. Press ESC to do this and you'll be brought to the game menu.

Press ESC again to leave the game menu and head towards the back of the chest that you found Teddy in. Drag the pink elephant from behind it.

Follow him once again towards your crib and pull out the bottom drawer. Climb up the drawer and interact with the musicbox.

Eventually Teddy will start heading towards the book to the left of your crib. Follow him and listen to his story, then head for the train and press the red button to start the train. The button is near the caterpillar.

Teddy will now ask you to carry him. Put your pointer at him and press RB to carry him.

Head towards the closet at the foot of your bed and push the stool towards the left. Then drag the closet door open and hide inside.

Once inside the cabinet, click on the door again and drag it towards you. You have to shut the door completely or it won't trigger the next scene.

Hug teddy and make your way to the back of the cabinet. Teddy gives off a faint light whenever you hug him, which can help you navigate through dark areas.

You'll eventually find another door and you mom will come and get you. It'll be bed time after she finds you.

Nightmare - Home

After the cutscene head out into the hallway and you'll find a stool standing in front of the door. Remember that you're a 2 year old toddler and not exactly tall enough to reach the handle.

Push the stool in front of the door and climb on top of it. Point and press RB on the door handle to flip the switch, then push the door open.

In the next hallway, you'll see a door that's slightly ajar. Enter it to find the washing machine, and unplug then open it. You'll find teddy inside.

Leave the laundry room and head for the stairs. It's blocked by a baby fence, drag it open and start climbing own those stairs.

Keep going to the opposite side of the hallway and you'll get to the living room. From there turn right and you'll find the kitchen.

Inside the kitchen, drag one of the chairs towards the door and flip the handle to open it.

Turn right and continue down the hallway until you find the only open door at the very end of it.

Continue towards the back of the room and you'll find another open door beside the filing cabinet. Now you're inside a walk in closet, use the drawers to reach the handle on the door and proceed inside your mother's bedroom.

Stand up and climb on top of the bed, then pull the covers down to find that your mother has disappeared. Wait for the door to open, then head out into the hallway.

You'll find some sort of black stain on the floor. Follow it back to the kitchen and into the living room where you will find something interesting.

Head back into the hallway that leads into the stairs and you'll find that the storage under the stairs is now open. Enter through it and pass through the silver like liquid.

Climb down the stairs and take the item that the memory of your mother is holding, then proceed through the hole behind her and drop down on the tunnel.

You'll find yourself in a strange area. Proceed through the wooden planks and a playhouse will be waiting for you on the otherside.

Teddy will offer to open the door for you. Pick him up then click on the small opening on the door to push him through and he'll open the door.

Listen to Teddy, then follow him to the machine on the left side. Press up on your Directional Pad and press RB to select the pendant in your inventory.

Close the door afterwards and point at the valve on the right side of the machine. Spin it around until the machine starts up.

Head over to the door and click on the little blue teddy bear icon at the bottom of it. Click on the glowing icon to make Teddy put his paw in and the door will open.

Pick Teddy up againd and head into the room. Drop down on the tunnel inside the door to get to the next chapter.
