Crashlands is a beloved action-adventure game where players take on the role of an interstellar truck driver stranded on an alien planet after an accident. Players will be drawn into an evil conspiracy, and to return home and protect the planet, they must learn various recipes from extraterrestrial intelligent beings, collect corresponding resources to craft items that enhance their combat abilities, battle alien creatures, collect loot, and unlock new areas. The game features an unlimited inventory, allowing players to store an unlimited number of items for greater advantages in combat. Each creature has its own weaknesses; exploiting these weaknesses will conserve your energy.

Background in space: You will play as Flux, an intergalactic delivery driver. When you have to land on an alien planet, you have an accident and have to escape from your ship to complete your delivery mission. But once you have landed successfully, you will not be able to deliver immediately. Many ferocious monsters are attacking you. And you have nothing in your hand.

Survival, but don’t care about survival: Since there are so many monsters around, you need weapons to be able to fight them. Now what is available on the planet will be used by you. You need to pick up available items to be able to craft a combat weapon. This game emphasizes fighting rather than survival. So you won’t need to worry about hunger or illness. Also, you don’t need to check your bags as often as possible. Your bags are limitless and you can pick them up for as long as you like. What you need to pay attention to is creating weapons, fighting monsters, and completing goals only.

Lots of fascinating missions: Lost on a strange planet on a delivery mission, but you will not be able to reach the place of delivery without the help of the natives. Here you will meet the people of that planet. Do the tasks they assign to get the information they want or the materials that make weapons or items. The game’s built-in quest system seems rather odd. Sometimes fighting with ferocious monsters, even the gods, sometimes just leisurely go fishing. In this game, I don’t worry about you getting lost, but it’s easy to lose the main quest because the sidequests are so appealing.

Basic 2D graphics: The graphics of the game are just horizontal screens, with a top-down perspective. It’s nothing too outstanding or outstanding, but the amount of content is immense. If you do 3D graphics, it will be a huge burden on your phone. But in the end, the developer chooses a simple graphics style, suitable for even your extremely weak phone.

Useful Tips of Crashlands:

It is worth collecting everything, especially early on. You have an unlimited amount of inventory space so there's never a reason not to stop to collect a resource that might come in handy later on. Special attention should be paid to fishing spots and plants that regrow on a timer, resources that appear infrequently or in dangerous areas. As a rule of thumb, the further one goes from the middle of the camp, the rarer the resources and the tougher the mobs. Very few resources really stop being useful, as even advanced recipes often require ingredients from early stages. Collect everything you can in the beginning so that when you go to make things, you have everything.

Potions are worth the effort of gathering the ingredients and crafting them. They usually have a larger effect and shorter cooldown than healing items/plants you will find in the wild. Keep in mind that you can't switch potions in combat, so plan ahead what you will need on your skill bar, especially before taking on a tough enemy or boss. Sometimes it's worth having two different grades of healing items so you can alternate between them while the other is still cooling down.

Each ball you snag while fishing corresponds to an item, and some more valuable items are associated with the larger balls (depth charges, fatheaded slurpers). Use the fishing buff stones and/or a Nasty Lure trinket for going fishing. Each will increase the amount of fishes by 40%. Fishing is an important activity as it is the quickest way to get fatheaded slurpers, the main component for healing potions, which will be your biggest bottle-neck as you exit early-game. Fishing spots have a 2h cooldown, so mark good ones with a wooden sign so you can alternate between them around the map.

If you start seeding your own Components then you can speed up the growth by throwing a Waterbomb on it. It will grow instantly! You can also use Harvest Bombs to instantly farm your grown Components. If you put Potted Plants nearby, they will also be affected by the Waterbomb and instantly grow. Note that some seeds require a recipe to be produced (e.g. dusk stones), instead of being dropped directly by the plant.

A few creatures in Crashlands only appear by night. Use the Stone Bed to speed up day and night cycle. It's also a great way to heal for free. If you carry an extra bed around with you and at least one floor to put it on, you can sleep anywhere.

9 years later after beating Crashlands 2, I decided to play Crashlands again. Just as fun the second time around as it was originally. I love the humor throughout both games. And no issues with battery life or heat this time around. Highly recommend! Original 2016 review: My only complaint is that my phone gets mega hot while playing! This game is a battery hog, but it's mostly because it's so dang addictive.

This has to be one of the best mobile games I've ever played! Quests, crafting, exploration - it has it all. It's a sandbox, explore, collect and craft type game. So if you're not into that you might find it "grindy". But the quests give you a sense of direction. I find the controls great, but it takes some getting used to during combat (I died a lot until I got the hang of it). I've only played a couple hours but I'm already addicted. Would love to see a sequel!?

Let's start with the bad. There is no way that I can join a friend's world for true multiplayer. Couch co-op on the Switch is a good start and it gives me emotional jellies as it's a step in the right direction. This is, hands down, the most embiggening game experience. Complete controller (Switch, Moto Gamepad, PS4, Xbox, and Bluetooth) support, cross-platform save support for all of my devices is so slick! Any other platforms I cab buy it on? I rate this a 9/5.

In the era where most phone games are gambling operations in disguise the Crashlands games are a rare exception. Buy it once, play it whether or not you have a connection. I beat the first one and enjoyed every hour of it. I just bought the second one and decided to go write some reviews for these great devs. Keep games like this coming and I will buy every one of them.
