Carnivores is an action-hunting game set in the dinosaur era. Players can choose to become dinosaur hunters or dinosaur observers, carrying various weapons or cameras. Capture the majestic figures of dinosaurs in prehistoric times, conceal your scent and carefully disguise yourself, use your weapons to accurately shoot your prey, and make them your trophies to show off to your friends. The game provides players with a dinosaur encyclopedia, detailing the data and hunting techniques for each dinosaur, helping players hunt more easily. The game also supports a survival mode, where you start surviving in an environment teeming with dinosaurs, challenging your limits to achieve the highest score.

Gameplay of Carnivores:

Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is an updated port of the first Carnivores (1998), and follows a similar format set by the first three entries in the Carnivores series. The player is allowed to choose from a variety of locations to hunt in, multiple dinosaurs, and a varied array of weapons; time of day can be changed and a number of accessories can be taken to aid the player. The game provides a mixed roster of dinosaurs alongside other creatures used to populate the maps. Whilst these additional animals can be killed (with the exception of the Brachiosaurus), they do not grant the player any points.

Players start out hunting herbivorous dinosaurs, which flee upon spotting the player. Carnivorous dinosaurs such as Allosaurus and Velociraptor immediately attack offensively after spotting the player but can be easily subdued. The Tyrannosaurus rex on the other hand requires a direct shot to the eyes before it can be killed. A feature exclusive to the mobile port is survival mode, which can be used to hone shot accuracy as multiple waves of dinosaurs swarm the player, while hunt mode allows the player to select specific dinosaurs to hunt. A total of 15 species are available, each having varying levels of sight, smell, and hearing to alert them of the hunter's presence. The choice of weapons consists of 2 pistols, 2 shotguns, 2 rifles, and a crossbow. (Pistol, Revolver, Shotgun, DB Shotgun, X-Bow, Rifle, Sniper Rifle) and the option to use non-lethal ammunition. The use of a radar and a dinosaur call aids greatly in the capture of animals. In the PlayStation Portable/PlayStation 3 version of the game, the player can only choose one dinosaur at a time in each environment, while other dinosaurs appear for atmospheric purposes.

Each dinosaur has different strengths and weaknesses, and requires you to analyze and identify the right weak points to easily take them down.Game Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter offers a large capacity where the dinosaurs live. This means you may have to explore new areas in search of creatures. Different regions provide different conditions for your quest, and provide specific challenges that you must overcome in order to complete your mission. Areas include vast savannas, arid deserts, rainforests, and numerous wild forests. All are designed to give you the best experience.

Harsh geographical conditions: In Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter, you will be challenged by a wild and risky planetary setting. Not only need to fight with ferocious dinosaurs, you also have to face a harsh environment with traps, abysses and other dangerous objects. However, if you succeed in dealing with these challenges, the game will provide adequate resources in return. This is a great premise for you to perform the next difficult tasks.

Character upgrade: One of the special elements of Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunter is the player’s skill improvement system. With each kill of the dinosaur, you will receive money and experience points, which will accumulate to unlock new skill levels. These skills include the ability to run faster, the ability to detect prey farther and predict the next course of the dinosaur hordes.

Weapons of Carnivores:

Rifle: This is the jack-of-all-trades weapon of the game. As such, it is a good starting weapon. When hunting with this weapon, you should avoid going for eye shots unless you've had a great deal of practice. Better to go for shots to the lungs, which are much easier to hit. Use that "What just hit me?" moment to deliver follow-up shots. Your target should be dead or badly wounded by the time you need to reload. Also, you should only use the "hold your breath" option to steady follow-up shots, or shots taken immediately after sprinting. Otherwise you're better off waiting for your hands to steady.

X-Bow: The X-Bow takes the most skill of the weapons available in Carnivores. Take your time, and make your shot count, because you probably won't get another one. Players looking to take a brute force approach to hunting will appreciate the high damage this weapon provides.Discovered a new advantage this weapon has. Carnivores, when shot, tend to respond by rushing towards the source of the noise and devouring you. When shot with the X-Bow, all they understand is that something is hitting them and they can't tell what, so they try to run away rather than attack. That said, if a carnivore manages to detect you, they're probably going to eat you before you can ready another bolt.

Sniper Rifle: Bigger Effective Range- 100 gems -> This is the only time this upgrade makes sense. The only other limitation on this weapon's range is how good your own eyes are.Increased Damage- 200 gems -> You should be hitting the eye when using this, in which case you won't need the extra damage. Use the bow if you want higher damage (you can use it and its own damage upgrade for less than the cost of this weapon), or the rifle/revolver if you want to spam shots (both of which cost less than this weapon).Smaller Weight- 400 gems -> Why are you running with a sniper rifle? See the previous sections regarding this upgrade.

Revolver: The Revolver has 2 main purposes: Saving ammo for your primary, and stun-locking charging dinosaurs. Individually, the shots aren't very powerful, but you get 6 before reloading. It might buy you just enough time to hop up onto a ledge, or it might finish your attacker off if you place your shots well. When repelling carnivores with it, don't spam the trigger, each impact will buy you a couple seconds. Fire once to stun, aim your follow-up shot for a vital before it can recover, repeat until one of you dies.

Dude, this game is AMAZING! First of all, the game make it feel more than just a hunting game, it feels like a horror survival game instead! And also, even though the graphics are outdated, it's still really entertaining! But sometimes, it can be really frustrating when trying to hunt a bigger dinosaur, though that doesn't matter. 5 stars!

I am in love with this game! I had it when I was younger because I was obsessed with dinosaurs, and I recently just got it again. All my achievements and progress were saved. I love how simplistic the game is and that there is really no need for in-app purchases. I would however like to see something new, just... anything xD. It would also be nice if we could somehow interact with herbivores that didn't include killing them.. or maybe have some kind of companion.

Great game and worth playing. It's one of the best games on the app store. Graphics are dated of course, but gives the game character. The actual hunting is fun, the use of credits to use weapons on hunts I think is a negative, but it's something that doesn't really hold you back. Seen others complain about microtransactions but they're honestly not an issue and can be completely ignored.

Growing up as a kid I had the first and second Carnivores games on pc. They are some of my all time favorites. And honestly I think this is a great mobile port that combines the two of them. Runs great on my s21 ultra, and the pricing is pretty fair for a free to play game. Also everything can be earned unlock ingame. Though it can be pretty grindy after awhile.
