Introduction
Dead Plate is a horror-themed role-playing game where players control Roddy Lamoree, a waiter, as she embarks on a week-long career as a server at a pub run by successful chef Vincent. During this week, players will encounter a variety of customers and various story events. You'll need to make different choices to advance the plot and shape character relationships, and explore different scenes in the restaurant using point-and-click gameplay to uncover its hidden secrets. Based on your choices and exploration progress, the story will unfold and you'll unlock one of four endings. Will you be able to leave the restaurant safely?
Story of Dead Plate:
The game begins with the protagonist, Rody Lamoree, having just been hired to work at a fancy french restaurant owned by a charismatic and successful chef, Vincent Charbonneau, nicknamed Vince for short. The player can choose to play the tutorial or skip it, but this will have no effect on future gameplay. As Rody begins working at the bistro for the first few days, he begins to have violent and disturbing nightmares every night before work about him and Vince, his new boss. The game can finish in 4 different ways:
Ending 1 - Table for One: If the player completed the entire week normally without any difficulties, Rody will quit his job and get in a phone booth to call his now ex-girlfriend, Manon, who was the entire reason he started working in the first place. However, Manon doesn't respond his calls, leaving Rody in a confused state as the game rolls the credits.
Ending 2 - Best Served Cold: If the player has triggered Vince's phone call through a variety of actions (that will be listed below), Rody will have the option to come to Vince's "dinner party". If accepted, Rody will work just like a waiter to Vince's 4 other guests with no consequences if failure is met. After, he can sneak into Vincent's bedroom and steal the restaurant's freezer key. To get this ending, the player must start Day 7 without equipping the matches, enter the freezer and interact with the meat grinder in the far-left corner on the bottom. Vince will appear behind Rody and knock him out cold, resulting in him waking up tied with ropes. Then, Vincent will come back inside the room and threaten Rody with a sharp knife, giving him a 15 second headstart to "crawl out of the freezer". Despite the player's speed, Vince will call Rody a disappointment before stabbing him.
Ending 3 - Best Served Hot: The player must start Day 7 after having stolen the freezer key and having equipped the matches bought from the catalog in Rody's apartment. Then, they must do the same procedure as Ending 2. However, Rody will be able to use the matches to burn the ropes on him. After managing to escape the freezer, Vince will come out of his office holding a corkscrew as he notices Rody outside. A chase sequence will begin where Vince will constantly try to kill Rody whenever he catches up to him. If the player dodges all of his attacks, Rody will use a broken glass bottle to stab Vincent's neck multiple times. Then he will cover him and the restaurant with cooking oil found in the freezer, before lighting the matches and burning down the restaurant as the credits roll.
Ending 4 - Abattoir: If the player doesn't dodge Vincent's attack during the chase sequence from Ending 3, the latter will stab Rody and drag him into the freezer, as the sound of meat crushing and cutting against a saw echoes in the credits scene.

Player Comments of Dead Plate:
The game wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The controls were stiff and unresponsive, on times I had to mass click to interact with the tables, and the controls didn't help with the sheer difficulty of later days. But as someone said to me: a game is just as good as it's lore, and how is the game's lore? Pretty 5/10 i think the game length really put on toll in it, where things felt rushed. But I would say the game is a 6/10 the visuals carried it hard.
this is a game that i come back to every few years just because i desperately love the world building and character art, but it's unfortunately just really unbalanced and unplayable. the controls are one thing, but the difficulty level is just near impossible later on. i've never been able to beat day 6, no matter how many times i've tried. i keep coming back in hopes that maybe they've smoothed over a few issues, but i still just can't beat it. a lot of the game feels quite confusing, and not in a mysterious way but in a "what the fuck am i even supposed to be doing right now?" way. i love the art and id love to actually know more of the story, but i really could never recommend the firsthand gameplay experience to anyone.
The story seems quite interesting; I'm playing the Brazilian Portuguese version. (I don't know if that makes any difference with the game's controls.) For some reason, the confirmation key, Z, is simply hindering gameplay. I can't get past the first turn because, even clicking the correct key and trying every possible way, the game doesn't recognize it. Customers complain about the delay, and I fail, not because of my slowness, but because it simply doesn't work. I've tried several ways, but nothing helps. I really wanted to play and delve into the story, but with this problem, it's impossible.
Dead Plate was my gateway game into the beautiful work from rachealdraws things and lemme tell you, this game is absolutely STUNNING in visuals and sound track. the story is so so captivating as well, i loved every second of playing though all of the endings. (also PLEASE restock the shirts, theyre SO COOL AND I NEED ONE!!)
Conclusion:
Dead Plate delivers a distinct blend of role-playing and horror, transporting players to a meticulously crafted 1960s French bistro. The game leverages hand-drawn visuals and over 70 CGs to create an environment that exudes both charm and unease. Eight carefully designed maps enhance the sense of place, and each area is laden with historical touches and intriguing visual details. The audio design further strengthens the immersion, using background music and sound effects to maintain suspense and amplify key narrative moments.
