Useful Tips of My Time at Portia:
Finishing a commission faster earns you better reputation and happier customers.
Keep a decent supply of any crafting-related materials, especially things like Copper Bar and Iron Bar. Keeping a small supply of gatherables and animal loot can also be helpful.
Watch the market. Purchase items when the market price is low and sell items when the market price is high. It can range between 70-140%.
Participate in festivals. They're fun, and you can use the rewards. Gifts given to villagers are worth double relationship points during festival days.
Upgrade your tools as quickly as possible. Each upgrade decreases how many hits it takes to chop down or quarry something. Also, for Abandoned Ruins, each upgrade of the Pickaxe increases how many resources you get per swing.
Make friends, and gift them their favorite items. Different friends provide different relationship perks.
Complete the Tree Farm missions quickly, then upgrade/invest in it. This will give you daily supply of wood and other useful crafting materials, items for powering your machines, and feeding your livestock when fully grown.
Each day, a Copper or Bronze Bar will spawn in one of Higgins's Industrial Furnaces outside his workshop, which he will pick up once he returns between 9:00-9:45. The bar is considered a gatherable material, so the player can pick it up if they beat Higgins to it.
Play the roping mini game on McDonald Ranch (brown sack on the ground). The activity costs 5 stamina and in game time freezes. Use your lasso on cows and calves and let the other animals pass by. For each cow and calf you successfully lasso, you'll be rewarded with a milk. Capturing all 10 cattle, with at least 4 being cows, can result in a net profit of 61 stamina points. The game can be played multiple times.
Sitting on furniture will regenerate stamina. Best Brother sells a massage chair that offers the stamina recovery rate at about 2.166 per in-game minute or 130 per in-game hour, provided that the game is set to the default game speed.

Player Comments of My Time at Portia:
I played this game after having played Starsand Island- a lot of Starsand reviews made comparison to this and Sandrock, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I loved a lot about this game- it's very well made, and the progression was paced just right- there weren't any cliff edges or parts where I had to grind for a significant amount of time. Sometimes it did take a long time to make materials where there were a lot of composite parts, but it was possible to go do other things while the parts were being created.
I've played Sandrock since playing this, so I'll say a lot of the most frustrating things in Portia have been fixed there- particularly the storage system- in this game you have to have the required materials or relic pieces on you to give them to someone or generate a relic. This became more and more of a pain as time went on and the amount of storage chests needed (and therefore the number of chests to look in) got higher and higher. Whilst you can swap between chests in a single view, looking for one specific relic piece when you have four chests of relic pieces can be a pain.
The art style in the game is well done and it is consistent. However, most of the characters look like potatoes. I believe there is a romance element in this game, but I never really interacted with characters as I found their appearances quite offputting- like the old Comfort adverts with the cloth people in them. I was glad that this was at least partially resolved in Sandrock.
Another thing I did not engage with was house decoration/organisation. I didn't see the point in this, as it seemed that the only benefits were in dumping relics and furniture anywhere in the house to get whatever stat increase they gave. I ended up with just a house full of about 20 massive fans and a couple of soldiers.
The shop opening times were quite restrictive, which was frustrating at times, but manageable. I did sometimes have issues with working out how to participate in events. It's been a while now, but I remember having difficulty working out how to join the fishing competition- there wasn't a marker or anything to suggest where to sign up.
I liked the combat system- it was reasonably satisfying and intuitive, but it did get repetitive at times when trying to get particular materials from the ruins.
One thing Portia has over Sandrock is there weren't any dodgy accents from what I recall. In Sandrock there were some rather grating ones, and I'm really hoping this won't be the case in the new game.
Overall, thoroughly enjoyable game- I would recommend it to anyone who likes life sim/crafting games. It was well worth the money given I got over 70 hours of enjoyment out of it before I finished the main storyline.
Final Verdict:
Dive into the vibrant life of a post-apocalyptic town where creativity and community come together in a delightful mix. In this simulation adventure, you take charge of your father's old workshop, turning it into a thriving business by completing various commissions, farming, and raising animals. The gameplay revolves around gathering resources, crafting items, and interacting with the eccentric residents of Portia, each with their own unique personalities and stories.
