SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Jalecolle Pinball Quest’, ‘Death Noodle Delivery’, Plus Other Releases and Sales

Published:2024-08-05 18:31:37 Author:Xiaohei

Hello gentle reader, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for July 31st, 2024. In today’s article, we have a slightly busier Wednesday than we usually see. Not super-busy, mind you. Don’t get all excited and jumping around on the tables or anything. But we do have a small handful of new releases to look at before we head over the usual lists of new sales and outgoing discounts. If this seems a bit smaller than it could be, well… I’m going to go watch a movie today as part of my birthday extravaganza. Sorry! But only a little! Let’s get to the goods!

Select New Releases

JALECOlle Famicom Ver. Pinball Quest ($7.99)

Jaleco IP holder City Connection is rolling out a whole line of Jaleco’s 8-bit games, done up similarly to Hebereke Enjoy Edition. The first is Pinball Quest, and it offers up both the Japanese and overseas versions. The Japanese one has been given translations in a slightly awkward way, so you can fully enjoy this prime piece of Jaleco jank. I might review this, as it’s the exact kind of weird that is up my alley.

Tokyo Chronos & Altdeus: Beyond Chronos Twin Pack ($49.99)

Originally sold as VR mystery visual novels over on PC, these two adventures come to Switch minus the virtual reality aspect. Which, you know, does kind of let some of the air out of the tires. The story premise for the first game in this pack reminds me a lot of The World Ends With You, so if that’s a thing that gets your engine running then you may want to give this a closer look.

Death Noodle Delivery ($4.99)

This game bills itself as an “action satire casual" game, whatever that means. It sounds a lot like Paperboy, but I haven’t had a chance to play it yet so I don’t know for sure how it works. You’re delivering noodles by hoverboard in a hazardous cyberpunk city, and you’ll need to watch out for all kinds of threats to what should be a simple job. Luckily, you can upgrade your gear as you go. Again, I don’t know a whole lot about this one. Reviews over on PC are in that middle range where it really could go either way. Wade in at your own risk.

Summer In Trigue ($14.99)

See, the fictional location the game is set in is called Trigue, but if you read it out loud, it sounds like “summer intrigue". Nothing goes over my head. This is a yuri-themed visual novel about a struggling writer who ends up on a tropical island with no less than four potential ladies she can smooch. Four! In this economy! Help guide her towards love by making choices as you read through this latest tale from the folks at Gamuzumi.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

Obviously with the avalanche of new sales yesterday things aren’t quite so wild today, but there are still some great deals to consider. Do you have the Cowabunga Collection yet? At sixteen bucks, you should. The Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters rarely go on sale, so you might want to pick them up now too. Grandia HD Collection is another rare discount, and while it has its share of issues, I think it’s a fine set at the current price. Make sure you give the outbox a look too while you’re at it.
