This app is so cool! I just got a smart Samsung washer/dryer and wasn't aware of the Smart Things app. It's very easy to add devices with the Samsung QR code on the machines and gives you all of your laundry details at a glance so you can see what part of the cycle it's on and the time left. I'm super impressed and can't wait to add more!

App works great. I use on smart plugs, lights, geo fencing and cameras. lights come on when I arrive home or when cameras detect people at night. I have no Alexa ar anything like it. All of it is linked through smart things. Ability to set up routines is somewhat tedious but very useful, get them set up and forget about it! if you can imagine it you can probably do it through this app.

If you want to be part of the Samsung ecosystem, it's a 10/10 experience. It’s one of the best ecosystems I’ve used. Just imagine being able to change the temperature or control your devices within a second while being more than 1,000 km away. The level of connectivity and convenience is impressive.

This app and their products have come a long way! I've used Smartthings for over 10 years, and it's truly progressed to an app I can't live without. I do wish they would bring back integration with Life360 so when the family comes to visit the alarm deactivates without me having to do it. I don't want them to have to have the Smartthings app installed because they don't live here or use it, and that's too many people for me to coach... lol.

How to Add a Routine?

Routines in SmartThings work using an IF condition and THEN action. This means IF an indicated thing happens THEN control a device, Manually run Routine, Service, or Location setting.

To add a Routine, follow these steps:

From the Favorites or Routines tab, tap Add (+) and select Routine

Tap Add (+) next to IF

Select and set the conditions that will trigger the Routine. If you selected multiple conditions:

Tap All conditions for all conditions to be met before triggering the Routine

Tap Any condition to require that only some conditions are met to trigger the Routine

Tap Add (+) next to THEN

Choose which actions your Routine will perform

Select Save and name your Routine before tapping OK to confirm.

How to Add a Manually Run Routine?

Manually run Routines let you easily control different actions for multiple devices by tapping one button. You can both manually trigger it with the tap of a finger or automatically with a Routine.

These manually run Routines can be accessed through the Favorites or Automation tabs, voice assistants, or the SmartThings widget on your mobile device. 

To add a new manually run Routine, follow these steps:

From the Routines tab, tap Add (+) 

Enter a name for your manually run Routine and whether to add it to the Favorites tab

Tap Add (+) next to IF and choose Manually run

Tap Add (+) next to THEN

Choose which actions your Routine will perform

Select Save and name your Routine before tapping OK to confirm

Optional: Select the Sun icon to change the Routine’s icon.

How to Add your SmartThings Enabled Hub?

Before adding your SmartThings enabled hub, ensure that the hub is powered on and ready to pair. If you are using a Samsung or SmartThings branded hub, you can find more specific pairing instructions here.

To add a SmartThings enabled hub, follow these steps:

From the Devices tab, tap Add (+)

Choose Scan QR Code to add a Hub with a QR Code

Select Scan Nearby to search for nearby hubs in pairing mode

Tap Add next to Samsung or Partner Devices to select a specific model or device

Make sure the device is put into pairing mode according to the manufacturer's instructions

Wait a few moments while your device is set up and tap Done once added

For 2015 SmartThings Hubs you will have to use the process below to onboard devices: 

From the Devices tab, tap Add (+)

Tap Add next to Samsung Devices and select Smart Home Hub

Choose "Add without QR Code" and "Can't find your device"

Select the SmartThings Hub 2015 model

Choose the Location and Room for the device

Follow the steps on the screen to complete pairing.
