Characters:

Qiu “Autumn” Lin: A true Golden Grove local, born and raised. Qiu is the kid to know in that town. The most popular, the most charming, until it all becomes too much. There’s a point where a coldness comes over Qiu and they shut out all except a few people. However, the rain doesn’t fall forever, and sadness can heal with real support. The day comes when Qiu is able to shine again, even brighter than before.In Autumn you will find a thoughtful individual who just needs some time to embrace the person they’ve always known they were. Qiu was assigned male at birth, but comes out as genderfluid (they/he) partway through the story.

Tamarack Baumann: A fellow newcomer, Tamarack moved in only about a week before you did. She’s a darling joy to those who get to have her company. And like the forests she loves so much, Tamarack is always changing in big and small ways. That isn’t always for the better. She’s surrounded by wrong branches, leading her down paths that only cause hurt. Yet despite all the pricks and snags on her path, the heart always remains the same.With Tamarack you’ll see a kind miss who has a lot to learn about herself, but will never stop trying to find her way. Tamarack is a woman who only ever uses she/her pronouns.

Build your life with them: Set your unique "dynamic meters" that broadly describe how you behave towards one of the leads, keeping them consistent or switching that around as you grow up. Qiu's and Tamarack's dynamic towards you will develop in a custom way over the years based on who you are and what happens.A romance with Qiu or Tamarack can develop as love at first sight, a longtime platonic closeness turning into last-minute confessions, a slow and gradual growth of affection that started at nothing, or anything in between.Friendships form in just as many varied ways, ranging from immediate connections to hard-earned fondness, from casual company to irreplaceable family, and more. What you have together is complex with history and detail, yet still as natural as the leaves changing colors in the fall.

Since Our Life: Now & Forever isn't going to hit the original release time frame of Fall 2025, the demo updates are gonna be different going forward. Typically, we'd make little updates to round out what's in the demo better while still keeping it (somewhat) demo-sized. Now though, we're going over the top. We want to use the demo to give our players something fun to spend their time on! If that makes it a confusingly long demo, that's alright.

The next demo update will happen Fall 2025 instead! And why it will take that long is because it will include all of this:

The Step 1 Moment "Fancy Fun"

The rest of the Step 2 prologue (it's the length of two Moments)

The Step 2 Moment "Assistance"

That is four times larger than a typical demo update and a ridiculous 110,000 words of new content. Also, this is in addition to what's already there, so in total we'll have a demo with two full prologues and four entire Moments. That's pretty much as major as releasing the entire base version of Step 1, but instead that word count amount is split between Step 1 and Step 2 content.

We're hard at work getting more and more programming/writing done each month. Step 1 is so close to being finished, but it'll take a while to make major progress into Step 2 being playable. I'm looking forward to when we can share a bigger picture of the OL2 experience with everybody.

We all know that a visual novel is about making choices, but Our Life: Now & Forever takes things to a whole new level. The amount of choices that this game gives you is stunning. How many visual novels have you played where you get like four max choices and none of them reflect the way you feel? Well, with this having so many choices, chances are very high that there will always be one that captures how you feel at that moment. It is truly excellent stuff and the way the choices happen and are implemented gets you invested in this story even more.

The art in Our Life: Now & Forever is just breathtaking. The autumn setting is something that makes the game so appealing to me, the use of orange and yellow gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. The characters are very expressive too as the way their faces are drawn shows a ton of personality. The UI is great too and has a kind of “book” like look to it when it asks you to make a choice. I am very excited to see these characters grow as the chapters are added to the game. At the moment it has a very wholesome look to it all, kind of reminds me of growing up actually.

Our Life: Now & Forever is a charming and lovely coming of age LGBTQ visual novel. The game is going to have different chapters as our characters age and in the release I am talking about today, we get to experience them as kids. I know giving a game that just has one chapter a 10/10 sounds crazy, but that is how much of an effect this game had on me! It is one of the greatest visual novels I have played and I cannot wait for the upcoming chapters, this is a game that I will be 100 percent there for on day one each time a new update is dropped.
