Meeting or exceeding the stat requirements of a lesson allows you to complete it faster, with some able to be cleared in a single day if you overwhelm them with raw stats. Completing a lesson rewards you with more stats in that area, allowing for some level of snowballing once you get the ball rolling.Don't take these commitments to mean you should only study in one area. Even for a specialised playthrough, there are benefits to spreading out. While literature and culture lessons broadly favour emotional skills, you can perform better in dance lessons if you have a high strength and stamina.Equally, there are lessons in swordsmanship that require a decent emotional score in order to properly perform knightly etiquette.The three broad playstyles are colour coded in each major choice. During combat you can store energy for later turns, which is often needed to make use of more expensive abilities.In contrast to action points, you'll want to be more conservative with your mood. The moment your mood falls below 50 your attributes will be heavily penalised, slowing down your growth and making many skill checks impossible.Keeping your mood around 70 can act as insurance against any unexpected events which may require you to spend mood, while not wasting any events that give positive boosts to mood. A complete week of lessons will often consume 50 mood, so you will want a way to bring it up both before or after you end a turn.Some activities that seem like they would cost mood will actually reward it. Adventuring and combat might cost you sanity in a game like Darkest Dungeon but here you'll be rewarded with a generous mood boost for the satisfaction of success. Performing poorly, by being defeated early in a dungeon, will damage your mood. Gathering friends who are able to go adventuring with you will improve your performance in dungeons and give downtime activities that also improve mood.

The story is absolutely adorable and quite interesting.Volcano's Princess's gameplay itself is that of a typical child raising simulator. It is simple and easy to understand, making it quite easy to level up the stats and get the endings you want once you get the hang of it. Due to the simplicity of the gameplay this makes it quite a cozy game. For those that like to stream games to friends, Volcano Princess is a hit with my friends. We love to have them make choices and influence my gameplay!There are so many different endings and paths for you to take the story in as the player and the one making the choices. There are both 'Good' and 'Bad' endings for you to find. There is a lot of replay value as you need to finish the game and get upgrades to make it easier to access different endings. I have never gotten bored on a playthrough or run out of things to do. I absolutely love this game and would buy it multiple times. The art is all very cute and I love raising my daughter. The characters are also adorable to me and I love seeing them interact with each other.

The game is labelled as a character-raising game where you play as the father, but it's more accurate to say that the dad and daughter characters share the role of protagonist. It's also very queer friendly, which surprised me coming from a Chinese game (it's pretty difficult to get this kind of thing published there). The translation is a bit dubious at times but it's nowhere near unreadable, just a little janky. The characters are simple and lovable, and there's a lot of different activities to do. Overall, a good purchase for the price point.

Princess Maker without some of the *weirder* undertones. This game has a wholesome and optimistic vibe. Every ending, even the "bad" or "mediocre" ones, feel worth discovering. The wide variety of characters and the multitude of features are really fun to engage with, and I love how many different romantic endings there are, even poly and queer endings!!! The game is very forgiving and gives you hints toward endings after your first run, allowing you to more easily attempt specific endings and know exactly what your goals are instead of relying on a fanmade wiki.Some translation issues and the individual character stories aren't particularly deep- however, this doesn't detract from this being a standout in the genre. The only thing I hate about this game is the stupid math minigame. Please don't make me do math.
