The game mechanics are primarily focused on stealth, with later stages offering more of a traditional third-person shooter feel as additional weaponry becomes accessible. To be successful in gunplay, you must use a lot of cover, moves, and sometimes stealth. There is a radar system, adversaries have varying levels of awareness, and killings are best carried out from the shadows. Players can distract adversaries by throwing things or making noises into the USB headset to entice them away from their pals (PS2). A small mini-game must be completed to hide in the dark. Hide in Shadows: No, not like in a game of D&D! Hiding in shadows in this game is a surefire way to succeed. Not hiding in shadows is a surefire way to tip the enemy off and get your ass kicked. If shadows are around, stay in them. It may not seem like you're hiding, but if your health bar is blue and not white, you are!

Stay Well-Armed: If you see a weapon, grab it. If you're stealth killing enemies, no weapon has an advantage over another. Any of them will kill the enemy automatically. Varying your weapons will give you more variety in your stealth kills, and some weapons are far superior to others in melee combat, but don't neglect weapons if you see them. You may have killed enemies with the Garrote fifty times, but it's better to make it fifty-one than to not have a weapon at all, forcing you to fist fight with your enemy.

Use Items: The most obvious item of use in the game are the Pain Meds, which can be acquired throughout the game and are mentioned later in this list. But there are other items that are impractical weapons, such as Bricks, Beer Cans, and Beer Bottles. These weapons are used to distract enemies. Throw them to make enemies walk into the direction the item landed. Then, sneak up behind them and BAM!... execution!

Heal Often: Pain Med canisters are on each and every level. They are hidden in lockers and chests, sometimes they are even right out in the open. Hell, enemies may even drop them every so often. Taking damage won't be an issue if you're Solid Snake-like, but if you play the game more wantonly and take damage often, using Pain Meds is the only way (other than ending and then restarting a mission) to heal yourself.

Be Patient: Patience is paramount in Manhunt 2. If you want to stealth kill each and every enemy in the game, you'll have no choice but to sit and wait sometimes… even for minutes at a time. If you're not patient, you can still beat a majority of the game using more conventional means. But for the sake of what Manhunt 2 is -- a stealth game -- exercising patience will increase your enjoyment of the game tenfold.
