Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is a side-scrolling adventure game where players and their companions embark on a wondrous adventure in another world. Gameplay:

The gameplay of Rayman Legends Definitive Edition revolves around the most basic elements of a platformer: running, jumping, dodging, and fighting, but the way it combines these elements makes everything feel very satisfying. There are no complex systems, no complicated skill trees or stats. The challenge lies in controlling the character at the right time. Jumping a little too early means falling. Jumping a little too late means hitting a trap.

The game captivates due to its versatile gameplay. Certain levels need you to run nonstop and respond fast. Other things force you to slow down, look for obstacles and plan your path slowly. A pre-defined standard won’t be applicable. Every stage serves as a test, but not a hardcore one, so nothing stressful. It’s fun, trial and error, give it a go again.

You respawn almost instantly after dying, without a long reload. This encourages players to experiment, take risks, and jump through difficult sections without fear of wasting too much time.

Find Your Rhythm: When you start a new level of Rayman Legends, you don't need to spend time getting used to the layout. The way levels are designed allows you and other players to flow smoothly and quickly from one scene to the next. Once the level starts, begin running and get a feel for the speed and pacing.Since the game is meant to be played fast, you need to trust that the layout will take you where you need to go. Obstacles and hazards will help direct where you need to run and jump so take note of their placement.

It's Not About Combat: Though combat has always been a part of the Rayman games, in Rayman Legends it's not as significant. Characters have access to three attacks: a quick hit, a charged hit, and jumping on enemies. While there are enemies and bosses to fight, a majority of levels don't require you to fight your way through.Many enemies can be ignored and evaded, with only those in your way needing to be hit as you run through them. The charged hit will almost never be used as it slows you down, so try not to concern yourself with it.

Hover Sporadically: In addition to all the typical platforming abilities that Rayman and his friends have, hovering is one of the most unusual and uncommon. By holding the jump button, characters will significantly slow their descent to make for safe landings and cross larger gaps.The thing is that hovering significantly slows your speed and also leaves you quite vulnerable. As such, don't draw out hovering unless absolutely necessary and instead alternate between hovering and falling sharply. This will help maintain speed as well as give you sharper control.

Don't Linger: Rayman Legends is not a game built around exploration, it revolves around timing and rhythm. Because of this, a majority of the levels are made to be run through with little to no reason to stop in any one area.Though there are a lot of safe spots, choosing to stop may disrupt your flow so only take a moment if you need a break. Considering the fact that many levels present a threat that pursues you through a big chunk of the level, get used to constantly moving and finding the comfort in movement.

rayman legends is a fantastic 2D platformer which offers many hours of fun, well made levels. it has a unique, painterly art style which aids in the game's fast-paced levels. the music levels at the end of each world are a delight to play through, too.i do think legends does overshadow its prequel, origins, a bit too much, and generally prefer that game for its better flow. legends seems to want to hold the players hand too much and not trust in their ability to go fast, slowing down the level to accommodate for their mistakes - once you notice this, it's hard to feel much satisfaction from beating a stage. this goes for the music stages, too.legends is a very easy game to recommend. just don't go for 100%, the 1,000,000 lums achievement is borked with no online server support.

It is CRIMINAL that there has not been a mainline entry since this fantastic game released 12 years ago as of this review. By far one of the most satisfying and just fun 2D platformers to play and complete 100%.No sweat worrying about getting that full completion natty as Ubisoft removed the online achievements with the retirement of their online servers. An easy collectathon with some batch file date spoofing if you don't want to grind the 1 million lums for 14 hours straight.

I've played Rayman Legends collectively close to 100 hours between multiple consoles, and it is peak 2D platforming at its finest<3 There are a bajillion things to collect and the level designs are so unique and fun! And I really love the boss and rhythm style levels! Cmon Ubisoft, please give us another Rayman game!!!
