Attractive Gameplay of Xenowerk

In the game, you will play as an agent tasked with infiltrating the most dangerous mutant lair in the galaxy. Your goal is to stop the mutant plague from ravaging the universe. Xenowerk features over 70 different levels, with the difficulty naturally increasing as the game progresses. Initially, you will only need to fight three or four mutants at a time, but as the game unfolds, you will have to face a wider variety of mutants.

You can move your character with your left thumb and aim and fire with your right. A button at the bottom of the screen allows you to switch weapons. You can carry two weapons at a time, usually a machine gun and a shotgun, but you can also choose from other weapons.

Wonderful Features of Xenowerk

A suffocatingly oppressive atmosphere: Darkness, like a black velvet curtain, devours all light. Mysterious whispers, like curses, send chills down your spine. The faint beam of a flashlight barely dispels the darkness, further emphasizing the player's loneliness and fear.

Strategic flashlight mechanics: The flashlight in the game is not only for illumination but also a very effective combat tool. Be careful when using it, as it will attract the attention of monsters.

Unique game setting: The charm of this game lies in its unique setting. Say goodbye to space battles and modern cities. This game takes me to a completely different place—a mysterious laboratory. It is this difference that gives the game its unique appeal.

Customization and progression: Players can customize their characters and weapons to their liking. This helps to personalize the character, making me feel like I'm creating a unique character.

Exploring and Collecting Items: Exploring the hidden corners of the lab not only helps me find the shortest escape route but also helps me find many useful items, such as ammunition, medicine, and new weapons.

Motivation for Replaying Levels: I'm very excited to replay previous levels. Each time I replay, I can use new weapons or new combat skills, making it easier to overcome challenges.

This is a great twin stick, top-down shooter. I bought it a few years ago and decided to go back and play it again. The levels start off fairly easily and progressively become harder. The armor and weapon upgrades are needed as you progress through the game. I found that it works great on a Bluetooth control pad, which I preferred to the touchscreen.

Thus, so far I have been able to play through the game with only what you start with, and I am already at the military base. Although you will eventually need to get better weapons and armor with in-game currency, which you get at the end of each mission. That said, the controls are pretty smooth and easy to get the hang of. There is a great supply of guns and armor to purchase, again with in-game currency, which you get better versions of as time goes on. Go on. There are plenty of different enemies and hazards to overcome, and plenty of different missions to fight them in. Overall, this is my favorite top-down game I've played yet. Thanks for the great game Pixelbite.

First, the bad: the camera movement can be a little unintuitive, and the progression system means you often have to leave behind weapons you enjoy using because they're simply not powerful enough (I'll never forget you, Plasma Archer). Now the good: the controls are excellent, the pacing is great, the music and SFX are delightful, and the difficulty curve is just perfect! If you guys ever make another one (please do), then I think you should add PvE multiplayer; that would be awesome!

Final Verdict

An excellent action game with a retro gameplay experience that's increasingly rare on smartphones. Furthermore, it boasts outstanding graphics, including an excellent real-time lighting system and terrifying mutated creatures.
