Gameplay of AFK Journey:

The combat unfolds automatically on a tile board, where the heroes are strategically positioned before the start. With six distinct classes — Tank, Warrior, Marksman, Mage, Rogue, and Support — each hero brings different skills and abilities. The players can manually cast each hero's Ultimate ability, slowing down the action until the move is made, or can be set to automatic. During battles, the players can utilize environmental mechanisms like flamethrowers and landmines, as well as the terrain itself, to gain a tactical edge over the enemies.

All heroes can be strengthened either by increasing their resonance or by ascending them to higher tiers, such as Supreme+ or Paragon. Depending on the ascension requirements of their number of copies, heroes can be A-level or S-level. They are obtained through a gacha system, which utilizes in-game currencies. In AFK Journey rosters, all Heroes’ levels match that of the lowest-level Hero in the Hands of Resonance. By upgrading these characters horizontally, rather than focusing solely on one, players will advance the entire squad more rapidly. As a guideline, maintain no more than a three- to five-level difference between the Heroes in the Hands of Resonance. This ensures that the entire team, including substitutable Heroes, remains equally strong.

Skipping Dialogues Summarizes Them: AFK Journey offers a compelling story compared to many RPG games on mobile platforms. However, interactions between storyline characters may become tedious for players once they reach a certain level. The skip button serves as a savior, allowing players to maintain the campaign’s pace without penalizing those who don’t want to read or listen to all lines. This feature summarizes all cutscenes and dialogues in one or two sentences, ensuring players stay informed about the lore while saving time, especially during main quest missions. Participate in All Battle Modes—Every Day: In each game within the Battle Modes, there are limited attendance tickets that refill daily. Beginner players are encouraged to utilize all these tickets to become eligible for more rewards. Many Battle Modes, such as Dream Realm and Hero Duel, reward participants even when their performances are not optimal. Since attendance tickets do not stack up, players are better off using them rather than letting them expire. To enhance gameplay and unlock additional rewards, players can send and respond to Proxy Battle requests and participate in Corrupt Creature events. Proxy Battle Requests enable players on the same server to share their Heroes for a single battle. Conversely, Corrupt Creature is a limited-time event where two to four players team up to confront a stronger group of enemies. This game does a lot right and is hard to find critiques to make against it. Perhaps my favorite thing it does is that you only need to level up 5 heroes and get equipment for the 6 types of heroes once, and that automatically applies to all of them. The map is full of rewards you aren't required to get. The dialog doesn't force you to be dumb but has many flavor choices that don't change the story but does add immersion. I want to say much more, but I've run out of words I'm allowed.

Ok ok, the ads made me do it. But I was surprised to see how much depth and story there was to this game! The art is also very pretty and the main story is voice acted, so I can see a lot of effort and dedication the devs have put into the game. You can play completely solo or with friends, with easy clearing with global co-op. I have spent too much time on this game already... And all of this on a whim! There's so much to do and many game modes, that it feels less like your typical idle rpg.

This is a pay-to-win model but completely free-to-play friendly! It is possible to compete and win against those who spend a lot of money in this game!!!! Which is I love it!!!!! The only critique is that this game is not an afk game. You got to be actively playing it to make progress, which isn't a bad thing. The developers make it really easy to get resources and get all the characters!

Good gacha game! The voice acting is immaculate and the storyline is intriguing. Game is very f2p friendly with the amount of rewards you can get by just simply progressing with 0 grind. Manage to get a lot of S tier characters in less than a week. What's really disappointing is that while the game offers amazing visual and graphics, you will need a good device to play it for the best experience. If not, then expect your device to crash or lag a lot. Hope they fix this.
