Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

In Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, players control Miriam to explore different areas and dungeons, battling various enemies and monsters. Players need to move and jump nimbly and use a variety of melee and ranged weapons to defeat opponents, earning rich rewards and accessories to continuously improve their character's attributes and skills. Weapons can be changed at any time, and these weapons determine the character's attack range and attributes, adding more fun to the game. The game supports saving at any time and offers rich customization options, allowing players to freely adjust the game's graphics, control sensitivity, and button settings for a more comfortable gaming experience.

Plots:

Bloodstained takes place in 18th-century England during the Industrial Revolution. Fearing the loss of influence over their wealthy patrons, the Alchemy Guild created Shardbinders, humans forcibly fused with demonically charged crystals that attuned them to their powers. These Shardbinders were sacrificed by the Guild to summon demons from Hell in what was meant to be a scare tactic but instead brought uncontrollable destruction that wiped out the Guild and much of England until the Church was able to banish them. Of the sacrificed Shardbinders, only two survive: a male, Gebel, and a young female, Miriam, who falls into an unnatural sleep before she can be sacrificed.

Ten years later, in the game's present day, Miriam has awakened from her slumber to find England infested by a new horde of demons. She learns that Gebel is responsible, as he considers himself to be a demon and intends to bring forth a new Hell while taking revenge on the surviving Guild members. Accompanied by her caretaker Johannes, they sail across the ocean to Arvantville, a destroyed village on the outskirts of Gebel's castle, the Hellhold. They meet with Johannes's friend Dominique, an exorcist who helped Johannes care for Miriam during her slumber and has been sent by the Church to help them stop Gebel.

As Miriam begins her journey into the Hellhold, she confronts Alfred, a surviving member of the Alchemy Guild and the former mentor to Johannes. Alfred seeks to recover an ancient book used in the demon summoning by Gebel, the Liber Logaeth, and threatens to kill Miriam if she does not leave. As his former student, Johannes deeply distrusts Alfred's motives and fears he may be making another mistake, partially feeling responsible for the actions that Alfred and the other alchemists took in harming Gebel, Miriam, and the other Shardbinders. She also crosses paths multiple times with Zangetsu, a demon hunter from Japan who initially distrusts Miriam due to her Shardbinder powers having ties to demons, but over time begins to respect her strength. Zangetsu explains that he is seeking a demon named Gremory, who is continuously eluding him for fear of his power. He gives Miriam his katana thinking that Gremory will not expect her to be wielding it and drop her guard.

Miriam confronts Gebel in the Hellhold's throne room, and she attempts to reason with him by reminding him that during the trauma of her transformation into a Shardbinder, he was the one who taught her to never give up on her humanity. Though he briefly seems moved by her words, Gebel remains defiant and the two Shardbinders fight. Should Gebel be killed, he will thank Miriam for stopping him, but the game will immediately end as Miriam wonders if she made the right choice. Using Zangetsu's katana, Miriam instead exposes Gremory's hiding place in the throne room and she escapes. Freed from the demon's control, Gebel is only able to give Miriam his final apologies before the crystals in his body consume him completely. Alfred then arrives to steal the Liber Logaeth from them and flees.

Miriam chases Gremory and Alfred through a dimensional portal into another part of the castle. Inside, she finds Alfred mortally wounded and the Liber Logaeth gone. As he dies, he explains that he was trying to use the Liber Logaeth as part of a spell he had cast throughout the Hellhold to destroy it. He also reveals that he was the one who put Miriam in her slumber ten years ago to sabotage the Guild's summoning, knowing her power as a Shardbinder was so immense that it would have brought even worse destruction than what was summoned had she been sacrificed.

Reuniting with Zangetsu, Miriam tracks down Gremory. Zangetsu uses his power to bind the demon in place, but he is seemingly killed in the process and so Miriam defeats Gremory alone. She then locates the Liber Logaeth and the one who stole it: Dominique. Craving the power to defy and destroy God for letting everybody die during the demon summoning ten years ago, Dominique reveals that she has turned herself into a Shardbinder through extensive study of Miriam and Gebel and uses the Liber Logaeth to summon Bael, the king of demons. Miriam banishes Dominique and Bael, and Johannes uses the Liber Logaeth to complete Alfred's spell and destroy the Hellhold.

As peace returns to the land, Miriam mourns the sacrifices made for her victory and wonders if the world will ever truly be free of the demons. Johannes consoles Miriam by revealing that with the Liber Logaeth, he may have the means to permanently stop the crystals from consuming her body. Miriam and Johannes leave Arvantville while an unseen person's shadow steps into view, revealed to be Zangetsu, who survived the events of the story after managing to escape Hell. He retrieves his sword, Zangetsuto, after watching the pair walk away.

You are spoiled for choice for yourself a fighting weapon like the most. A combat weapon to suit your style of play. Create a unique fighting style with a signature weapon and utilize it to its full potential. Crush the monsters with powerful attacks. Thoroughly study the characteristics of the weapon and come up with an effective playing strategy. Nothing can stop you and your weapons from going deep into the enemy base.

Combat skills: Combat skills are an important factor for you to win. Your character will possess her unique skills. Skills that can use power to cast it quickly. Allows you to create special abilities to deal damage or heal. These skills when fighting can be combined with normal attacks. Create extremely beautiful combos with stunning effects. Useful Tips:

Stay Stocked On Potions & Ethers At Your Home Base: Bloodstained can be relentless when it comes to damage-dealing foes. And what's worse is that healing isn't exactly cheap or easy to come by. It's thus a good idea to regroup back at the home base in Arvantville if the journey is getting treacherous. Load up on crucial items such as Potions, magic-restoring Ethers, and poison-purging Mithridates.The costs can add up in high quantities, so consider pawning excess gear or duplicate items/materials snatched up to afford them. If you're far from this location, seek out one of the rooms marked green on the map, as this will allow teleportation to Arvantville.

Range First, Melee Later: While much of the combat in Bloodstained emphasizes close-range hits, there are plenty of ways to attack from range. It's a good idea to take advantage of this, by way of guns, long-range spells, and Directional Shards.These will help alleviate some of the danger and whittle down the health of the tougher foes. Then when they're in a weaker state, swoop in and deal the death blows with devastating melee attacks. This is particularly wise to implement on bosses, as being too close to most for a prolonged time can mean a swift death. Again, have Ethers ready - as this offensive strategy may dwindle MP quickly.

Leave No Stone Unturned: Being a spiritual successor to Castlevania, it shouldn't be too surprising that there's a similarly large amount of secret collectibles, powerups, and other goodies to be had when exploring. Since the layout of this sprawling map is not linear, there are a number of side rooms and hidden areas that can be easy to miss.Be on the lookout for strange-looking walls that seem as if they could be destructible - they often are! Chests, power-ups, and additional baddies can often be found lurking behind them. Be sure to inspect bookshelves scattered throughout the game, too, as they can produce new information or grant you a Hidden Technique.

Always Take Advantage Of Save Points: Just as the rooms marked green should be sought after and exploited, players should also make a point to retreat to save points as much as possible. While enemies will respawn after doing so, the payoff is usually worth this minor setback. Not only do these oases save the game, but they also instantly heal all health and MP. This can mean the difference between life and death, and can save tons of money on Potions and Ethers over time.There are plenty of these save rooms scattered around, and they're fairly easy to stumble upon. If you're in dire straits, either fall back to a nearby room, or make a point to check out areas that seem to be off the beaten path - as these will often lead to a save room.

Unleash The Power Of The Plume Parma: This one gets pretty specific, but its power is such that it really does warrant its own entry. It's true that Directional Shards, typically speaking, tend to come in handy and can be quite useful offensively. Yet, the Plume Parma makes for a particularly strong ability - even if it's a rather odd one. The greatest aspect of this projectile is that it essentially accumulates.Players can fire off these flying pigs in rapid fashion, and not only will they deal loads of damage, but they'll also bounce off the walls and take some time to disappear. As one can imagine, this can quickly pile up in terms of devastating damage to enemies. This impactful Shard can be found on the Plume Parma enemies, which are located in the Garden of Silence and the Forbidden Underground Waterway.

Great game. This was my first time playing a game like Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which felt very different from the metroidvanias I've played before. Since I hadn't played any Castlevania games, it was a fresh experience for me.I absolutely loved the weapon variety the game offers. You can try different builds, and every weapon provides a unique playstyle. I also enjoyed the level design, and unlike many other metroidvanias, this game is quite narrative-driven. The Japanese voice acting was great as always.Overall, it's a solid 8/10 for me.

Straightforward story, nice gameplay can be a bit grindy because there's a lot of upgrades you can do. The demon spawn each time you left the room is kinda unique, though it serves it's purposes. All the skills we get from boss fights basically just for navigation purposes, there's not a single boss that have a gimmick that revolves around the skills.The puzzle can be quite hard to solve by yourself. example there's a time where you need specific item to progress the map but, this specific item was on the edge of the map and you need to basically just explore to find it.Character design was very good, demons, npc, and main character fit the theme. I like that the equipment actually reflects on the mc although only for hats, accessories, and some of the clothes.Personally I enjoyed the grindiness of this metroidvania game.

During the early stages of collecting items, I noticed many chests placed high up that I couldn't reach. I thought to myself, "I won't be happy unless I get wings to fly up and retrieve them later!" This image kept flashing through my mind... As my anticipation for the game grew stronger, this expectation, which spanned the entire game, was finally fulfilled the moment I unlocked Gravity Reversal! What an amazing game!! The map can be reversed and you can explore it all over again. With Gravity Reversal activated, the sky is practically beneath my feet! There's nowhere in this demon castle I can't go!!! To give a bold analogy, it's like your wife promising to build you a computer, and the day it arrives, you open it and are amazed to find a gleaming 3090ti plugged in. From that moment on, your wife's status is unparalleled!

Final Thoughts:

Players will take on the role of Miriam – a little girl cursed by the devil; she has been crystallized all over her body. To be able to break the curse, you must unleash your power and fight to the end—an adventure in the haunted castle to defeat the owner of the other castle. Not only saving you, but tens of thousands of people of humanity are also waiting for a supernatural force to rescue them; you will carry such a heavy mission. And it will all take place in Bloodstained – a top-action game.
