Blighted

Blighted is an action role-playing game where players are placed in a world corrupted by a mysterious force. You'll embark on a journey to recover the memories of your companions, wielding the mysterious power of corruption and using various weapons to explore different areas of the world. Skillfully dodge enemy attacks and unleash different combos to deal higher damage and defeat the enemies ahead. As the game progresses, players will face increasingly powerful monsters, upgrading their weapons and skills to gain greater combat power. The game is still under continuous development and updates, with more new gameplay and areas to be released, keeping players excited.

Story of Blighted:

Battle your way through a psychedelic western nightmare to reclaim the memories of your people in Blighted, a 3D action RPG from the creators of Guacamelee! and Nobody Saves the World. Harness the power of the deadly, reality-altering Blight and unravel the mysteries of a twisted world.In the past, the dead were buried with seeds planted in their brains. These seeds would grow into trees bearing fruit imbued with memories. Knowledge was passed down through the fruit of memory trees for generations. This continued until the one called Sorcisto defiled the ritual. By eating brains raw, Sorcisto gained vast power and knowledge. He consumed the player’s entire village, destroyed its forest of memory trees, and infected the world with a deadly Blight.You are the lone survivor of Sorcisto’s rampage, fighting to reclaim the memories of your people, before your own Blight overtakes you.Learn to harness your Blight, which serves as a source of both power and danger, challenging players of all skill levels and gating some of the world’s deepest secrets.

Hi Steam community! It’s time for another peek behind the curtain of the development of Blighted.We’re trying to build a gameplay-focused experience with this game, so we’re leaning into environmental storytelling and game mechanics to help communicate our narrative as much as possible.  That said, you won’t be entirely alone in the game’s weird world.Here’s a quick look at a few of the non-playable characters you’ll encounter on your journey:

The Iron Mule: Originally enslaved by the Tycoon, the Mule used his cunning to sneak through secret passages around the world. He carries Blight, but he’s made the conscious decision to eat brains no more.The Iron Mule offers you advice from time to time at Watcher’s Peak.

The Shaman: A hermit of few words. The Shaman wears a mysterious helmet that protects its wearer's brains from being devoured after death.His knowledge of potions and rare ingredients could prove useful in your quest.

The Widow: The Widow mourns the loss of her husband, whose brain is sought by bandits. She's worried that if she buries him, the bandits will dig him out. To protect him, she carries his corpse on her back.The Widow shares her expertise with weaponry as part of her husband's legacy.

The Blind Bandit: Not just any bandit mind you, this is the Great Baltus, Chieftain of Bone Bridge, although perhaps not for long. The once-feared brain-stealing bandit is at a crossroads: without his vision, he'll be excommunicated from his gang–even devoured. That is the bandit's way. He’s taken a liking to you because you smell like a bandit.…and that’s all we’re ready to share about NPCs for now!  Please keep in mind that this is just a sneak-peek of a work-in-progress version of these characters.

Development Status Update: We recently hit a major internal milestone, and everyone on the team is working on a fresh playtest of the latest full build.  We’ll be using feedback from that playtest to guide development going forward.  We also recently brought on a couple of new team members to help on the project.  We’re excited with where things are headed!
