From the Betty ship that opens at the beginning, you can unlock areas with money as you level up. There are areas with the same name, but there are separate winter and ocean versions, which you can use if you acquire ice fishing skills and boat use skills. In the winter version, the water is frozen, and you must have special equipment to fish. Currently, there are 7 original areas and 8 DLC areas.

If you look at the fish list, there is a bait table. The more overlap, the more diverse fish species you can catch. The less overlap, the more accurately you can target the target fish species. However, in the case of lures, there is a limit to the size of the needle, so an appropriate compromise is necessary.

Player level, equipment level, and fish skill are required to catch the maximum size of the fish species in the area. (Don't forget that it's a game.) The average size of the fish varies depending on the player level, but if your level is low, you can only catch small fish. Strategies of Ultimate Fishing Simulator Mod:

Most of the time the biggest problem at the beginning is the hook size. The starter hook's default size is #8 if I remember correctly. That is a bit too small. Set your starter hook's size to it's max ( I think it's #2 ). That will improve your catch rate. But from there go up to 1/0 to 3/0 as soon as you can and you will start to catch a lot of fish at Betty. Remember to upgrade your line accordingly as you will catch bigger fish with the bigger hooks. 3/0 is a good size for high bite rate with medium and small fish there. Eventually you can go up to 5/0 to 7/0 for the biggest at Betty. But on 7/0 your bite rate will drop a bit again. For best bite rates at Betty 3/0 to 5/0 is best. Don't forget to buy a landing net when you start using 5/0 and upwards. You will start to catch bigger fish that requires a landing net to land them.

PS: Don't bother with going lake jumping too quickly. Stay at Betty for a long time and build up your money , level and equipment. At Betty you can catch fish upwards of 20kg+. Don't be in a rush to go to other lakes to quickly. You can built up a lot of money , level and gear at Betty. On most of my profiles I done I was around level 12 before I even started with other lakes. Also , when you do start to visit other lakes you don't have to do it in a specific order. Do them in the order you like. Check what species each lakes has. For example the 2nd lake ( Betty Winter ) you can skip at first. You don't have to go there and buy an Auger. You can for example go to Lake Powel or Acha or whatever other lake first when you unlocked them and go back later to winter lakes. Do the lakes in order of the species you would like to target and what you want to fish and when you do get into a money bind go back to Betty with you 5/0 for a while. Betty is the highest catch rate with lots of fish and you can go back to it as often as you like to get money if you get in a bind. But imo experience , having done 6 profiles , there is no money issues in this game. It is a bit tight at the start but if you don't rush and don't buy every thing as it unlocks you will quickly start to build up that bank account and have enough money for what you need.

Exactly what I was looking for single player fishing game without creepy chat rooms/temporary DLC. I started my file on normal and have had minimal issues with catching fish. Other players that reviewed may have picked realistic. Normal just look for the water ripples to know where to cast. My only gripe about this game is that if you're playing on controller the tutorial displays the controls for keyboard still. When I first started it took some getting used to remembering which button did what or figuring it out for myself. Scenery is really nice can't wait to see the remaster when its done.

Plays much better than I was expecting. For a game that's on sale 99% of the time, if you like fishing games give it a go. Its been a fun one to do a bit of achievement hunting on, getting out there on all the waters and catching ALL the fish, great fun, and its super chilled and relaxing. May not be a pretty as COTW: theAngler, but it has 500% more fishing in it. 

Dear Ultimate Fishing Simulator Mod Developers,I really enjoy playing Ultimate Fishing Simulator Mod, and I would like to share a small suggestion that I think could make the fishing experience even more immersive.Would it be possible to add mouse vibration or haptic feedback when a fish is caught or bites the bait? I believe this feature would make the game feel much more realistic and exciting, especially for players using a gaming mouse with vibration/haptic support.I think this could also make the game even more attractive to new players and enhance the overall fishing experience.Thank you very much for your hard work and for creating such an enjoyable game. I sincerely hope you will consider my suggestion.

My introduction into fishing. Having only fished a couple of times in my life, after about 50 hours on this game, I fell in love. Bought a real life fishing pole, tackle box, learned my knots, and went out into the numerous ponds of South Florida. I have this game to thank for giving me a way to see how well I enjoy fishing, what it is all about (learning different techniques, rod types, bottom fishing, and what the fish generally like) and I gladly support these developers with every DLC they release.Kudos to this wonderful development team!
