Introduction

One Finger Death Punch is an action-fighting game that offers three difficulty levels, each varying in the number and attributes of enemies to provide a greater challenge. Players can take on numerous levels, where foes wield specific types of weapons. You must choose from various kung fu styles and armaments, pressing the correct keys with precision to defeat your opponents and unlock new skills. Be careful with every move you make—a single wrong key press could lead to your defeat at the hands of your enemies.

Gameplay of One Finger Death Punch:

There are three difficulty modes both in the story mode and the survival mode: Student, Master, and Grandmaster. These difficulty levels have an effect on how many enemies there are in each stage, the speed of each round, and number of hit-points that the player has.

There are many different rounds in the story mode that each have different weapons, special requirements, and unique elements of gameplay. Some of these include the Light Sword or Nunchaku rounds, where the enemies are all one hit, but they increase in speed and number as time goes on. Boss battles consist of one enemy that has a health bar and requires a certain pattern of buttons to defeat. The pattern is displayed to the user by blue and red bars that represent in what order the player should press the left and right buttons, respectively. Missing a button press or pressing the incorrect mouse button will result in the boss hitting the player.

There are a few versions of the survival mode within One Finger Death Punch. Plain survival mode will place the player in an endless Mob Round with some of the other unique gameplay sections randomly occurring, such as a Light Sword section. Blind survival mode makes it so the player cannot see the bar underneath enemies indicating how many times they must be hit and in what order, nor the indication of when they are in range. The player can only rely their reaction time and the color of the enemies, with prompts appearing only for enemies that require a special combination of button presses. There is also a third, secret survival mode, which is the plain survival mode crossed over with Silver Dollar Games' No Luca No, where the player must push away a cat named Luca from the center of the screen using the mouse cursor as Luca appears from the left and right side of the screen, blocking the view. Unlocking the second and third survival modes requires at least 500 kills in a round of the preceding survival mode.

Useful Tips of One Finger Death Punch:

Wait for the Range Cue: Your safest habit is to press only when an enemy is actually in your attack zone. If you hit early, you miss; if you miss, the next enemy can punish you before your rhythm recovers.Watch the left and right sides instead of staring at the fighter. Enemies are the timing signal. Let them cross into range, press once, then reset your eyes for the next side.

Think in Single Inputs: Every enemy is a decision, not a drumroll. Gray enemies are the cleanest lesson because they go down with one correct hit. Use them to build the rule that one visible threat gets one deliberate press. When the screen gets busy, slow your hands before your eyes lose track. A calm correct input is worth more than three panic taps.

Read Colored Enemy Bars: Colored enemies add short left/right patterns. The red and blue bars under them show the sequence, so do not treat color enemies like normal one-hit targets.Your goal is not to memorize every possible color on day one. Start by reading the displayed bars, then let repeated patterns become muscle memory as the campaign gets faster.

Respect Brawlers and Bosses: Brawlers and bosses ask for longer sequences than normal enemies. They are the moments where impatient players usually break rhythm by rushing the whole string.Handle them like a quick call-and-response. Read the next prompt, press it, then read the next one. If you try to outrun the sequence, the game will usually catch the mistake.

Use Weapons for Breathing Room: Weapons are not just style. Staffs, swords, clubs, bows, daggers, and bombs can change your range or let you handle threats before they become a close-range scramble.Do not waste a weapon by continuing to play as if you are bare-handed. When your reach changes, widen your attention and use that extra space to clean up crowded sides.

Unlock Skills Before Chasing Survival: Survival becomes much more manageable when Level mode has already given you skills to work with. The game has a large skill set, including weapon, range, slowdown, deflection, and control effects.Build a foundation on the map first. Even if survival is your main goal, the campaign teaches enemy types, mode rules, and useful unlocks without asking you to last forever immediately. When a new skill appears, test what it changes before you judge it. Some skills support weapons, some change enemy pressure, and some help recover from specific threats. A skill you ignore in a clean Mob Round may become valuable once survival starts mixing speed, patterns, and fatigue.

Player Comments of One Finger Death Punch:

Oh my god this game is like you click left and right but you're like doing Arkham City stuff flipping punches and throwing blades and being all WAAAATAAAAA and slamming punks in the jaw and impaling them on your sword which is probably a sexual metaphor because the word IMPALED just slams on the screen when you do it and then you get a lightsaber which is called something not copyrighted and you're all ZOOM and SHWOOOM and SLIIIIICE and stick figures fly all over the place in gorey toilet mascot violence and then the boss shows up and you beat him but then another boss shows up and you're like I GOT THIS and he has like 20 inputs and you get each input right and you're like I'M FREAKING LIKE WATER FLOWING AND PERFECT LIKE THAT BRUCE LEE QUOTE and then you're left on your last health and you're like I'M DONE but no the BLOODY HEAVENS PART IN ORCHESTRAL BLISS and the GOLDEN BLADE OF HEAVEN falls into your grasp while all enemies inch away in fear and you're all I DO NOT NEED TWO COINS FOR THE RIVER STYX, BECAUSE YOUR BODIES WILL BE MY BRIDGE TO HADES' DOORSTEP.

Delightfully high paced, high violence, high intensity simple game anyone can get into. Well worth the $5 price tag as it is as pleasurable way to casually kill an hour or two. You will probably break your mouse if you play it too much as you learn to click faster than any normal human being should. This game will prove Darwin correct, but likely leave many generations with oddly dexterous left and right clicking ability. Evolve today! And ensure the next generations mutant abilities.

Had this on Desura for a long time. Really fun game. Don't let the Silver Dollar Games name put you off (they made tons of crappy XBLIG, specifically so they could eventually make this game) as this is a well put together gem. You can use the keyboard or a controller (which I think is new, but don't quote me on that) and you literally only use two keys. Simple as pie, but hard as hell.

For a good stretch, this game was the highest rated game on Steam given a minimum number of qualifying reviews. Although it isn't my personal favorite game on Steam, it is definitely an amazingly FUN game. You only use the left and right mouse button to fight -- you don't even move the mouse. (So really this should be named Two Finger Death Punch.) This is simple to learn but difficult to master due to a few challenges: timing the button presses, varying enemy behavior, and the speed of the game (which increases as your progress). The game also has different mini-games and intense achievements giving you both variety and fun challenges. If that is not enough, the soundtrack is very enjoyable as is the in-game sense of humor. You should get this game if the trailers look appealing and you enjoy fast paced games. Without question this game will give you a mental workout.

Final words:

One Finger Death Punch will be a game that can give its players immersive experiences through established intense martial arts battles. If you love action games, especially fighting games, this will be a perfect choice that you should not miss.
