Introduction

Civilization VI is a popular turn-based war strategy game where players start from a primitive society and lead their civilization's development. Each civilization has unique skills, improvements, and leaders. Players can freely construct various facilities, conduct diplomacy, train troops, and explore each turn. The game's highly intelligent AI or other players will respond accordingly, enhancing the game's fun and challenge. During development, players will encounter various random events and need to continuously advance their technology tree to enter the next development era, unlocking more benefits and gaining a greater advantage in the game. The game will continue to be updated and optimized, releasing more seasonal events and new expansion packs to bring players more fresh experiences.

Gameplay of Civilization VI:

Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy video game in which one or more players compete alongside computer-controlled AI opponents to grow their individual civilization from a small tribe to control the entire planet across several periods of development. This can be accomplished by achieving one of several victory conditions, all based on the 4X gameplay elements, "eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate". Players manage a civilization of their choice and develop their technology, culture, and government structure between ancient times and the near future. They found cities and grow them through the creation of mines, farms, and other improvements, while simultaneously exploring the randomly generated world and encountering other civilizations and barbarians. Players have the ability to trade and manage peaceful diplomatic relations with other civilizations or alternatively go to war through the use of military force.

Similar to previous Civilization games, each civilization has a unique ability, comes with at least one unique unit (often one associated closely with the civilization in a historical sense, though not always with the leader), as well as unique infrastructure such as an improvement, building, or district. Each leader also has a unique ability which may provide an additional unique unit. One major change between Civilization V and Civilization VI is that both leaders and civilizations have a benefit.

Civilization VI builds upon the general gameplay of Civilization V, including continuing the use of the hex-based grid introduced in Civilization V. New to Civilization VI is the idea of "city unstacking": some improvements to cities must be placed in the hexes in the bounds of the city but not within the city center itself, whereas in previous games, all improvements were considered stacked on the same map hex or square that the city was located in. The player must assign specific hexes as "districts" in the city, which have certain limitations but grant bonuses for improvements placed in that district.

For example, the encampment district specializes in a city for training military units, and allows for the construction of further buildings that grant production and experience bonuses to said units. Such encampments may not be placed next to the main city center. Other districts gain bonuses for being placed in appropriate terrain – campuses benefit greatly from being placed adjacent to mountain or rainforest hexes, reflecting scientific advancements from studying the diversity of species within such biomes. Players can opt to attack specific districts of a city instead of the city center, which can affect the city's operation. These districts may also add new strategies to the city's defense. For example, with a military encampment in place, attacking forces approaching a city are not only subject to ranged attacks from the city center, but also from the encampment. The attacking forces may need to take the encampment first before they can successfully strike the city center.

Victory Types in Civilization VI:

Domination Victory: Win by conquering the capital cities of every other civilization in the game.

Science Victory: Win by launching a satellite, landing a human on the Moon, and eventually launching a Mars colony to prove your civilization’s scientific supremacy.

Cultural Victory: Win by attracting more tourists to your civilization than any other civilization has domestic tourists at home.

Religious Victory:  Win by making your religion the predominant religion in every civilization in the world (i.e., your religion must be the majority in every civ's cities).

Diplomatic Victory: Win by accumulating Diplomatic Victory Points through alliances, World Congress votes, and other diplomatic actions.

Now, let’s dive deeper into each of these victory types and how to play to win.

Civilization VI

Features of Civilization VI:

Design your empire: The game places you in a small city with fewer resources and development. It will be your creativity to shape your terrain. You can pre-design a roadmap for the areas where you want houses, bridges, watchtowers, rivers, forests, cultivating farms, etc. One gets to design and run its empire with zero restriction. The country looks so amazing and gives you the feeling of being an actual ruler. As thrown comes with responsibilities, so one has to maintain and protect its region.

Planning and plotting of empire: You have to plan different strategies and figure out plans for a strong army in Civilization VI. It must be capable of protecting and fighting against the enemy. After the construction, you can take long drives in the vehicles and enjoy the look of your city. You can feel great about your imagination, design layout, and the way your blueprints finally look.

Capital generation: To strengthen an empire, capital is necessary. With it, you can purchase accessories that will give you an easy hand with the construction and protection of your place. The income source of a country is its resources. Being it the mines of gold or silver all add up to the national treasure. The well-maintained economic conditions give an upper hand to the military. You can attack the neighboring kingdom and plunder their treasures. It will be more daring and adventuresome and will add more capital to your economy.

Protect your city from enemy troops: This is the most thrilling part of the game, where the ruler tries to save his country from the attack of a neighboring king. It includes action and war between the army of two kingdoms. The user can launch his army to the battleground and instruct them like the rulers in real life. Moreover, you can keep an eye on the enemy through various watchtowers and guide your troop well. There is a risk of massive destruction of goods, capital, and construction on both sides.

Strategies of Civilization VI:

The first turn: You will start your game of Civilization VI with a Settler and a Warrior. The Settler will be the unit to found your first city so it is important that you find a suitable spot for it: source of water for the city’s growth, resources for food and production as well as landscapes (mountains, desert, rainforest) for bonuses. Send your Warrior out to explore but keep it close to your city in case of a Barbarian attack.

Take care of the Barbarian problem: Early on in a game of Civilization VI, Barbarians will be your main source of trouble. They will tend to send out Scouts to look for cities, so attack them when you see them because, if they report back to their camp, they will send more powerful units to attack your city. Build some Warriors and Slingers early to defend your city, and clear Barbarians camps so you can focus on the growth of your empire.

Know the map: The map is one of the most important features of Civilization VI and it is crucial that you understand and explore your surroundings. Look for Resources or sources of water, ideal city spots; find Mountains or Rainforest tiles for district bonuses; explore the seas for new settlements. Send Scouts around your empire and let them initiate first contact with City-States and Leaders so you can be aware of potential allies or enemies.

Plan your cities: Civilization VI allows you to organize your cities the way you want. Unlike previous games in the franchise, you now have the possibility to build districts around the city centre and placement will play a very important part in your strategy. For example, placing the Science district near mountains will grant you extra Science points every turns while placing the Commercial district next to rivers will bring more revenues. Plan your cities and specialize them to get the most out of your empire.

Make friends: You are not alone in this wide world. As you explore the map around you, you will encounter City-States that can be turned into powerful allies. Send Envoys to a City-State to get extra Gold, Science or Culture for example. You will also have the opportunity to become the Suzerain of a City-State and earn unique rewards that can greatly change the outcome of your game.

Player Comments of Civilization VI:

Firstly, its only free for 60 turns, a demo if you will. The full game is 13$, and worth it. I bought the basic(no dlc content etc) and it works as well as I had hoped. Occasional lag, and a crash once or twice, so be sure autosaves are on else you will lose a game. I am amazed a mobile version of this game is relatively stable.

it's pretty much civ6 on mobile. a lot of 1 star reviews are complaining about the price of the game and dlc, just because they got it on sale at some point in a steam sale and they only see now the full price. if you like civ 6 and want to have it in the most portable format, this is it. though i would advise to at least have an s22 ultra or equivalent.

I'm giving 5 stars for 2 reasons. 1 it's a perfect port, exactly the same as console versions. 2 it gives a free trial of sorts (60 turns) then the game is $10 after that. Preference wise i had no problems got to medieval era. I was in a large-scale war and had no performance issues. overall, I would say it's a great mobile game, especially if you can't always be at a computer to play civ.

I absolutely love this game and don't understand why people are leaving 1-star reviews. I agree that the expansion prices are beyond ridiculous, especially after having paid for them for PC. If the prices were lower, I'd buy the expansions too, but I'd like to see more details on the main screen (like resources gained/lost per turn)... Otherwise, definitely an upgrade over the old mobile Civilization game on Android.

Final words:

Civilization VI invites you to guide a civilization from humble origins to world dominance through strategy, cunning, and sometimes conquest. As leader, you’ll build cities, manage resources, conduct diplomacy, and command armies while making choices that reshape history. With nearly limitless possibilities across science, culture, domination, and more, this mobile port of the legendary PC game provides incredibly deep 4X strategy gameplay. Let’s explore why it’s a must-have for armchair emperors.
