Strategies of Riichi City:

Tenpai doesn’t matter if you deal in.

Be sure you can read all the man/character tiles properly.

Make sure that yakuhai is actually your own/round wind.

Make sure you aren’t in furiten.

If you have a good hand, don’t deal the fourth wind and cause an abortive draw.

Don’t discard a yakuman hand if you don’t need to.

Don’t play with cheaters.

Make sure you go to the washroom/won’t be busy before you play.

Don’t deal the houtei dora unless you know a triple ron will happen (to abort the hand).

Make sure your ruleset allows kokushi ankan chankan before you call ron.

Don’t go for a yaku that isn’t used in your ruleset.

Don’t decide to go for nagashi mangan based on your haipai.

Know all your waits when you have a chinitsu.

If you are playing with sticks, know the values of the point sticks.

If you are playing offline, remember to check the ura dora if you win with riichi.

Make sure you have a way of telling if a dora is red if you are colour-blind.

Don’t go tsumogiri just because you’re in tenpai.

Keep your winning tile separate from your hand.

Remember to turn your next discard sideways if your riichi tile was claimed.

When calculating points, make sure you remember the honba.

If you are in last place in oorasu, don’t try to win a hand that would keep you in last.

I tried to give mahjong another shot after having a difficult time with MJS. The tutorial here helps out greatly and I'm doing well. There is a steep learning curve, but I'm getting results at least. It would be nice if you had something like a tower of trials. Something that would test the abilities of any player with specific requirements for a winning hand. That would greatly benefit any player!

I honestly don't have any complaints that come to mind! This app is great for learning and playing mahjong and ive been having a lot of fun playing with my friend. I do have a question for the developers, has the team considered adding a chat feature with people on your friends list? Or integrating the voice chat feature into public matches?

Started playing a week ago without knowing how to play mahjong. But the learning/practice modes were informative and easy enough to understand. Daily logins and just a couple games played every day seems to go a long way toward increasing your in game currencies for cosmetics and characters. I got the new character, Tsukimi, after 5 days without needing to do gacha pulls. I also used about 10 gacha pulls for characters so far, though I didn't win any. All with no money spent.

I like this game, maybe a little more than Mahjong Soul. Riichi City offers a far greater and superior tutorial to help you understand the game and gives you rewards. It's a lot brighter, faster and energetic than Soul's slower and cosy atmosphere. Riichi City actually offers some narrative with a basic plot at the tutorial and has some story in the events. This isn't afraid to heavily sexualise the characters' appearances, some story elements even try to get down with the MC lol.
