Starting off, here are a few generalized tips for beginners that may be helpful in a variety of situations.

Place your most valuable attackers as close to the house as possible, and keep your sun production in the middle or the front line, depending on how close range the attackers you're using are. Sun production is important, but not so important that your attackers need to give their lives for it. Putting sun producers in front gives the rest of your defenses a little more time to deal with the zombies.

Do not be afraid of high cost plants. Plants vs. Zombies 2: Reflourished features a larger selection of plants that cost between 200 and 500 sun than vanilla, with the highest cost plant under normal conditions being Winter Melon at 650. Though these numbers are large, they are not unusable, especially with a good sun production strategy. Paired with cheaper attackers or stallers to handle the early game, these plants can be incredibly viable. Remember, if something has a high sun cost, it is for a reason. Expensive plants on the whole tend to be very powerful to make up for it.

The Zen Garden system itself largely works the same as in vanilla, allowing you to grow sprouts for consumable single-level boosts to specific plants, but with one major difference. While in vanilla these boosts always took the form of a free plant food effect on planting, Reflourished has a more varied system. Some plants still get the instant plant food effect, but others will have a decreased sun cost, decreased recharge, increased health, or niche-er perks like exploding when shoveled. These boosts are viewable on a plant's almanac entry.

Progression through the game in Reflourished is structured similarly to the vanilla version of PvZ2, and uses the original vanilla world order, meaning the worlds are arranged in the order of their release and not necessarily in the order of difficulty. Unlike older versions of vanilla, this unlock order is fixed. Though the Gargantuar level in each world provides a World Key, that key will always be to the next world in the order. This means the first section of every world has to be completed before the next one opens; however, everything after the Gargantuar level is optional when it comes to world unlocks. As the second half of each world is naturally harder than the first half, on some worlds it may make sense to leave the rest of the world until you have a wider variety of plants from later areas.

Progression still feels slow and a few boss levels are overtuned. Otherwise, this mod deserves a lot of credit for removing the P2W elements of vanilla to smooth out the experience. (It's also not incomplete like most other mods.) It does feel like this is closer to the PvZ2 that we originally expected.

PvZ2 Reflourished is a vanilla-style mod for PvZ2 which improves every single aspect of the game in ways I thought wouldn't be possible. I have spent hundreds of ours into the game and it simply never gets old with the new worlds/epic realms, improved levels, new plants and balance changes, and the thymed events with unique NPCs. This is the definitive sequel to PvZ in my opinion.

actual perfect sequel to PvZ1 with like 500 (estimate) new levels that are challenging too, original worlds, etc. Basically what I said about my PvZ2 review but amplified. Microtransaction plants are incorporated naturally throughout and makes this the pinnacle of tower defense games.

I haven't experienced literally everything this game has to offer, because there's a LOT of content here, but I've played enough to know my thoughts, and this is something I'm going to come back to from time to time when I feel like it.For this, I started a completely new save file and played PVZ 2 all over again, and I also experienced a good chunk of the new worlds Reflourished adds to the mix. The balance changes and little tweaks here and there make the experience playing the older levels much smoother and more fun.As for the bigger changes, this is what PVZ 2 should've been to begin with, not the complete and utter cash grab it is nowadays. Each world has new postgame levels that let you earn plants that cost a premium originally. Reflourished brings back the costume shop and every plant still in the shop can be earned with gems, giving them more of a purpose. As for the plants that were originally exclusive to certain holidays, such as Ghost Pepper or Sweet Potato, there's a new world in Reflourished! The whole gimmick is constantly switching holidays. Not only does this fit the time travel theme of the game, but now you can unlock all the holiday plants just for playing the game normally. Sky City from the Chinese version of the game is also brought in here which is great, I love seeing that. Along with Holiday Mashup, we've got two completely new worlds here, and these are designed really well! They have fun gimmicks, good difficultly balancing, and new plants that are fun to use!

Definitive way to play the original vision for PvZ2. Gardendless is overall a better game imo but this one sticks closely to what the original version of PvZ2 prior to evil meddling seemed to be going for. New worlds are very fun, though they do have some of that fangame aesthetic and complexity that makes the game feel. bit less polished despite it literally being more effort and higher quality than it would be otherwise.
