Kingdom Rush 5 is a classic strategy tower defense game that offers players levels of varying difficulty and terrain changes. Players must strategically place their defensive towers—such as archers, mages, barracks, and turrets—with limited initial funds to defend against waves of enemies. Defeating enemies earns gold, which can be used to build or upgrade towers, dealing more damage to earn three-star rewards. As the game progresses, players will unlock more new heroes, towers, and skills. Each hero and tower has its own unique characteristics, allowing for strategic deployment to gain an advantage in levels. Players can also use spending points to purchase items that grant more gold, lives, and bombs, making the game easier.

Gameplay of Kingdom Rush 5:

This game is in many ways similar to the previous games in the Kingdom Rush installments. The player is responsible for the combat operations of army of the alliance. Such operations involve constructing towers that weather wave after wave of enemy assaults, with the goal of preventing any enemies from breaking through the defenses and going past the exit. If a set amount of enemies successfully pass through the defenses, the player loses.

Towers are constructed using gold as the currency. A set amount of gold is provided to the player at the beginning of each level, and enemies killed provide the player with a gold bounty, allowing them to build more towers as the battle progresses. Like Kingdom Rush Vengeance, the game has a multitude of already specialised towers available for construction, and of these, five towers can be brought to each battle. Each of these specialised towers can be upgraded four times. Some towers are analogous to the four types of towers (archers, mages, barracks, artillery) featured in the first three games, while others represent some combination of the four, and others may be part of an entirely new tower family.

In addition to towers, the player has three spells at his disposal. One is the classic two-person Reinforcements, prominently featured throughout Kingdom Rush. The second and the third spell are determined by the heroes you have selected to bring to the battle, and are analogous to hero spells from Kingdom Rush: Origins and Kingdom Rush: Vengeance. However, there is no equivalent to Rain of Fire, Thunderbolt or Soul Impact.

Heroes and Items also play a role in the game. For the first time in the series, the player can control two heroes in the same stage. Heroes are available through gameplay and can be purchased with real money. They are elite troops who actively block and fight enemies on the battlefield. Heroes are player-controlled to a degree, and hero selection determines the second and the third spell a player has in their arsenal. In addition to the spell, heroes have their own set of skills which they use independently on the battlefield. Upon defeat, heroes do not disappear indefinitely, but will be revived after a delay.

Items, as in previous games, are purchasable goods whose usage is controlled by the player. Items are purchased using the premium in-game currency Gems. These items are potentially extremely beneficial to the player, being capable of various effects such as freezing and stalling enemies, provided that the player uses them correctly.

Strategies of Kingdom Rush 5:

Your objective in each map is to weather all enemy waves.

Each enemy that touches your base costs you a different number of lives; lose 20 lives and you lose the stage.

Enemies arrive in waves, indicated by skulls.

You can tap on a skull to see the enemy types in a wave, how many of each type there will be, and what path will they take.

Some stages give enemies new paths as the waves progress. Stay alert and spread out your defenses to mitigate the danger of an ambush.

Skulls with wings indicate that that wave will have flying enemies.

You can double tap a skull to call a wave early. This nets you bonus gold and ability cooldown time. Be prudent in calling waves early as it’s very easy to overwhelm your defenses.

There is no one omni-tower. You will need to utilize each tower’s unique strengths and cover their weaknesses to succeed.

Each tower shows its relevant stats: attack damage, attack speed, and range. Range is represented by a green ring around the tower when tapped or placed.

You can equip 5 towers. You don’t need to bring one tower of each type, either.

Some stages will have extra elements that can assist you, such as damaging spells, unique pre-placed towers, and background events.

If you’re having a hard time with a particular level, make sure you’re engaging with that stage’s unique element. A little extra help never hurt!

The two factions are Linirea and the Dark Army. Their approaches to towers, units, upgrades, and heroes differ. This means that you can use the tools of both armies to create a powerful fighting force that covers the weaknesses of the other half.

What can I say, Iron hide did it this time. The design is like a mix of vengeance and origins and to be honest it goes so well. The towers, the heroes, the maps, yup nothing much to say its just good! The main campaign was easy since I had good experience with the rest of the title but the dlc? Especially the last one is just a banger! Tough maps, the best dragon, & my favorite Twilight Tower its just Perfect! And double the trouble with 2 heroes at your side! Peak gamingjust take my money!

I have played all the other four as well including Legends of Kingdom Rush as well. The last one was on PC. This sequel has not lost the charm and is still exciting to play. And as for the DLCs, I'll just buy the play pass as the DLCs cost quite a lot for a mobile game which everyone agrees to. I mean INR 2900 for 15 more stages is just outrageous. At that price I can get a AAA bundle on steam and play it for tens of hours.

I've been playing Kingdom Rush since the original installation of this game, playing it on my PC, via the browser. I have bought every iteration of Kingdom Rush since its inception. Ironhide once again has nailed the tower defense genre, this installation is a must buy. if you're on the fence, take this as your sign to buy it. It's amazing, especially if you are a Kingdom Rush fan.

The game was very well done. A good twist to the next game could be to have the option to play in a coop mode. Specific designed maps that are split with shared currency. Basic maps with designated slots per player. Center cored maps where players hold off their own side. Towers that each player can place their specific upgrade to make a super tower. Just some ideas, you're the creative ones. I am just excited for another title.
