You'll be the leader of one of the few modern shelters, guiding other survivors to survive the apocalypse and continuously upgrading the shelter to become humanity's last hope. You can develop romantic relationships and deep connections with over ten girls with distinct personalities, unlocking various sensual animations and even raising children.

Train Multiple Skill Sets per Character: Encourage characters to develop secondary skills like engineering, combat, or first aid, so you aren’t crippled when your only medic is incapacitated or your lone scavenger suffers PTSD.

If you play it without looking for story depth, it’s definitely an extremely fun and fast:paced game. The character variety and number of scenes are satisfying. Just don’t go in with high expectations for the story. In fact, since the story isn’t tiring or complicated, it also increases replayability, which is a nice plus.

Shelter is a point:and:click adventure game made by Winterlook, featuring plenty of options, paths, and scenes in a great handmade art style. In a universe very similar to the premise of the Fallout games, you leave a safe shelter to explore the ruined world and its affected inhabitants, while improving relationships and becoming intimate with many beautiful girls. The developer put considerable effort into branching choices, requiring the player to pay attention and sometimes rely on trial and error to find the best path. It is an excellent game made by someone who clearly cares about their work and understands what the audience wants.

This is a very good game, the scenes are amazing and I love the art style, it doesnt have voice for the girls, the galery is kinda bad, there's no built in walkthrough and the game is really short, so not a 5/5 to me, it's a very good one tho.

Fairly short but still great with the ipatch. Amazing 2d CG. I did use the cheats so I didn't have to grind, but there ares some great scenes. Great pregnancy routes and pretty simple game:play. Overall recommend, if you time or also have played Stellar Dream.The mod is great too for adding more content.

Walkthrough of S.H.E.L.T.E.R. - An Apocalyptic Tale:

Welcome to the post:Apocalypse and your SHELTER! The goal of the game is to help rebuild human society as a benevolent leader or a terrible tyrant. In either case, you will be impregnating a lot of women along the way. This visual novel allows two paths for most of the heroines: Romance and Corruption. Romance is a kinder approach to the relationship while Corruption is more controlling and harsh. You can only pick one of these routes for each heroine per play through as outlined below. I highly recommend playing through the game before consulting this guide for specific guidance on finding tricky CG.

Resources: 

There are just two resources you need to concern yourself with gathering: Cans and Y:Shield. Cans are used to purchase Y:shield and pretty much everything else. The Y:shield is needed for you (and sometimes others) to travel further around the world.

A. Cans: Cans are primarily obtained in four ways:

1. Breakfast Leftovers: This yields 1 Can per day automatically. While not a lot, it does add up over time.

2. Scrounging in the neighborhood above the shelter. This can be done once per day and generally yields 0:3 Cans. This is the most effective method of generating a lot of cans initially.

3. Working a Shift at Jay’s Bar:This is a good way to build up Cans. Each shift yields 5:7 Cans dependent upon choosing the correct beverages for the customers. There are two different order combinations that can occur during a shift. The correct answers for each are below:John needs alcohol to disinfect a wound: Vodka or Rum,Elin asks for the usual: Beer (if Elin is pregnant, the correct answer is Tea)

Tiffany asks for a relaxing cocktail: Manhattan (if Tiffany is pregnant, any answer is acceptable),John asks for something to help him relax: Glass of Water.

4. Taxes and Kickbacks: Once you become the mayor of the settlement 50 Cans will be added to the treasure every 7 days. You can withdraw/deposit the Cans from the treasury as needed. Some decisions affect how much you get in taxes. They are listed below:

Base Income: 50 Cans

Build Brothel: +50 Cans

Sell Mia’s Questionable Produce: +20 Cans given directly to you once a week when visiting your office.

Take Bribes from the Doctor (see walkthrough): +100 Cans

B. Y:Shield:

Y:Shield is obtained in two ways (with some variation on method two depending on player decisions). After the beginning of the game, it’s strongly recommended to avoid a situation in which you have 0 Y:shield at the beginning of a day as you will have to purchase it at a higher price.

1. Purchase from Tiffany: Tiffany is in the neighborhood above the shelter and sells Y:shield for 10 Cans each. This is the most expensive way to purchase Y:shield and should be avoided once you are able to get to the settlement.

2. Purchase from the Doctor in the Settlement: John will initially sell Y:Shield for 5 Cans each. This is the best way to stock up on Y:shield at first. If you return the syringes Perry’s gang stole and arrested Perry, he decreases the price to 3 Cans each. After becoming mayor, an event will fire allowing you to replace the current doctor with a new one. If you keep the old doctor, he will continue to sell Y:shield at 3 or 5 Cans each but will also give you a free Y:shield daily. If you choose the new doctor he will give you 3 Y:shield for free each day. Depending on the route you take with Angela, you may be able to maker her a doctor in the settlement. If this is the case, she will provide you with 1 Y:shield daily.

Pregnancy:

There are many opportunities to impregnate the various heroines of the game. Only one of the 3 shelter girls can be pregnant at a time but there can be any other combination of concurrent pregnancies. Pregnancies consist of multiple stages and each stage generally takes 7 days but the stages can take longer if other events get in the way or if you don’t visit the pregnant woman promptly when she is ready to give birth. Furthermore, some women skip Stage 2 entirely. Each woman can only be impregnated once.

Stage 0: Begins with conception. No difference in behavior.

Stage 1: The woman will tell you she is pregnant. New dialogue options are available but they otherwise behave and appear normal.

Stage 2: The woman will have a different outfit and will be visibly pregnant. Some women will not engage in any sexual activity at this point but others can engage in pregnant sex.

Stage 3: All women can engage in pregnant sex.

Stage 4: The woman gives birth and returns to normal activity. You can name your child and check on them on subsequent visits.

Settlement Defense Level: Many choices throughout the game can affect the Settlement Defense level of the settlement. This level directly affects the outcome of the Final Confrontation (see the relevant walkthrough section for more detailed information.)

Part 1: Prologue

This walkthrough describes progressing the main story. For more detailed information progressing specific relationships, please see the relevant sections below.

The game is initially quite linear. Day 1 introduces you to the world of SHELTER as well as the initial three heroines: the tomboyish Kira, the reclusive Melisa, and the motherly Angela. Also, Oscar is there. After choosing your name, you are awoken in your room by Kira. You are able to click on a few items within your room for some flavor text before exiting by clicking the door in the upper right of the screen. Oscar will then ask you to head to the surface above the shelter wearing a radiation suit in order to get a spare water purifier from his house. After exiting the shelter, you quickly find the water filter and meet Tiffany; a survivor somehow able to survive the radiation. After briefly chatting, you return to the shelter and tell the others of the encounter. It is then that Oscar reveals his master plan to rebuild human society: having you impregnate the ladies of the shelter! You have a few choices in how to respond here:

Choosing any one of the girls will allow you to progress only that heroines route of the three in the shelter.

Choosing all of them will allow you to pursue relationships with all of them at once (this is preferred for gathering CG as the other options do not allow access to any special CG.)

Choosing none of them will cut off the relationships for all three

Regardless, you will then talk with each of the girls and each will request something from the surface which you will immediately head out to retrieve. When you return with the items, each girl will give you 5 cans of food. You will then return to the surface once more to ask Tiffany more questions about life on the surface. At this point you are free to travel back and forth from the surface and interact with the girls in the shelter. To progress the story, ask Tiffany about radiation and she will tell you about Y:shield, a miraculous drug that, if taken daily, negates the effects of radiation. This will unlock the ability to buy Y:shield. You should then buy a vial (:10 Cans) and bring it to Oscar for analysis.

Part 2: The Settlement and Perry

After Oscar finds that the Y:shield is as good as advertised he recommends you use the purchased vial and travel to the settlement to scope it out. Returning to the surface once more, Tiffany takes you to the settlement and introduces you to the Jay who offers you a job working at her bar. You are forced to work a shift at the bar (see working at the bar for more information) where you run into the bandit Perry. You have a choice on how to respond to him:

Buy him a drink: Perry takes kindly to these overtures and leaves happily.

Tell him to f**k off: Perry takes poorly to this insult and leaves angrily. This will have consequences shortly.

After you are paid for your shift, you meet the settlement doctor, John. He offers to sell Y:shield for 5 Cans each. It is advised to buy a few now. After speaking with the doctor, you head back to the shelter.

*If you insulted Perry at the bar, he and a partner bust into the vault threatening the group. Kira saves the day and kills Perry’s partner yielding you a rusty knife!

After this event, you are free to interact with the girls in the shelter, visit Tiffany on the surface, or head to the settlement (costs 1 Y:shield).

To progress the story you must visit Elin in town and let her know you’d like to help with Perry. The question now, is how to find him. When in the settlement you should choose the new option Look for Perry. Dr. John will tell you his general location but be unable to help further. You should now work a few shifts at the bar and, when prompted, choose to stay behind (you have to work at least two shifts but if you engage in any sexual acts with Jay during a shift, you will not be able to stay behind). Tiffany will arrive at the bar and, after interacting with her with any of the options, divulge the location of Perry’s hideout. Now there is an option to Hunt for Perry in the settlement. Choosing this will take you to the crashed plane. To progress, you must choose “Encounter Perry” but it’s recommended to also explore the airplane while here. At this point you have three choices on how to confront Perry and his gang:

Go with Kira: This impacts the next choices.

Go with Elin: This impacts the next choices.

Go alone: This impacts the next choices.

After getting the drop on Perry and his gang, you have three more choices for how to handle them. If you brought someone with you, they may prevent certain choices:

Kill them: Elin does not allow this option and instead arrests them.

Arrest them: Kira does not allow this option and kills them instead.

Exile them: Neither Elin nor Kira allow for this option instead choosing to arrest or kill them respectively. This can only be chosen if you go alone and does have a minor impact later.

In any case, travel to the sheriff’s office after returning and Elin will say she wants you to be the mayor but both John and Jay have to agree to support you. John will give his approval if you visit his clinic and return the syringes stolen by Perry (you pick these up automatically). If you had Perry’s gang arrested, John will give his approval without needing to return the syringes giving you 10 free syringes (although returning the syringes AND arresting Perry’s gang will discount the Y:shield to :3 Cans each).

If you killed Perry and his gang, Jay will support you immediately when you visit her bar. Otherwise, she will provide her support if you work 5 free shifts at the bar or if you satisfy her orally (Unlocks JAY2 if not already unlocked).

Once you have both approvals, head back to the Sheriff’s Office and Elin will make you mayor. You have a chance to make a rousing speech to the populace if you are so inclined. Elin will then take you to Your Office and you can immediately start building the watch towers.
