re:Dreamer

re:Dreamer is a role-playing game aimed at adult players. The game features beautiful 2D animation and revolves around gender swapping, bringing players a unique story set on a school campus. In re:Dreamer, players take on the role of Zach, a confused and penniless college freshman who, after downloading a mysterious mobile game called re:Dreamer, is transformed into a woman and renamed Zoey. Your goal is to help him become a man again. In the process, you need to keep the fact that your body has changed from being known to everyone. A fascinating story unfolds from there.

Storyline:

Zach, a broke college freshman who's been coasting through life without a purpose, just found a curious phone game called re:Dreamer.

This incredible phone app has world-bending powers, and he accidentally turned himself into a sexy and voluptuous young woman before he even finished the tutorial.

Even worse, he'll never be able to change back unless he wins this reality-editing competitive sex game and he has to keep its existence a secret from everyone except the single friend he's allowed to invite for help playing it!

Highlights:

Transformation-driven story told through a school setting with 2D character art

An unpredictable AI companion whose advice can't always be trusted

A single-friend invite system that shapes who Zach can lean on

Player choices that affect how Zach adapts to his new identity

Features:

C.H.E.A.T.S. System: This unique system dynamically adjusts Zoey’s personality and behavior based on your choices and actions, leading to a highly personalized and replayable experience.

Rich Storytelling: With over 25 hours of content, re:Dreamer offers a deep and engaging narrative filled with twists, turns, and emotional depth.

Original Artwork: Enjoy stunning, hand-drawn artwork that brings the characters and world to life, enhancing the immersive experience.

Tips and Tricks:

Play centers on reading through Zach's new life as a woman, navigating school, the people around him, and the in-game AI's cryptic guidance toward reversing the transformation.

Choices shape how he handles his new body and the situations it puts him in, including how far he lets things go with the one friend he's invited into the game.

Progress is measured by how close he gets to solving re:Dreamer before the transformation becomes permanent.

Changelog:

The morning of Keisuke Day 2 has been entirely rewritten. I have a much better idea of who these characters are now than when I wrote that years ago, and it now not only showcases that better understanding through writing that is much better in every metric and which gives the route a stronger trajectory, but it reconciles a few worrying plot holes created by the route's rewritten first day and prevents the creation of many future ones, the two most important being:

Severely reducing the odds of Zach getting pregnant that Zach and Keisuke having unsafe sex in a chlorinated swimming pool without a condom on isn't an unbelievably stupid idea.

Giving Zach confidence in the knowledge that if he and Keisuke ended up having sex last night, it was only because Keisuke got hypnotized due to Zach's illicit obtainment of the re:Dreamer app and how he's in a very unique situation because of how he got it and how he has already used it.

I know re:Writes aren't a particularly exciting prospect (especially after a delay of almost an entire year) but this was writing that needed to happen. A single read-through is a bit over two hours of new content, but this revised section is designed from the ground up for replays with stark differences to the events based on C.H.E.A.T.S. and the choices made the previous night. It's 114,631 words long, and while precise estimates of reading time are impossible due to how the route variances are structured, I could easily see someone spending six hours on it and still not finding everything.

Ren'Py has updated to version 8.4.0 and should have much better performance at the cost of needing Windows 10 or later to run.
