The Last Embrace

In The Last Embrace, players assume the role of a vampire girl who awakens in a modern city after a thousand years of slumber. To reclaim her past memories, they embark on a journey of exploration. Encountering a diverse cast of characters, they must determine if their feelings are genuine. Using their abilities, they can transform into vampires, gradually unlocking adult scenes with their characters. The game is constantly being updated with more intriguing characters and story chapters, giving players endless anticipation and a sense of the unknown.

Story:

Game takes place in a modern city, in the year 2025. A millennia ago, humanity at that time was facing a new enemy, vampires, who had spread the known world and almost all but destroyed the society at that time. However, humanity was able to band together and get rid of them once and for all, exterminating every last one of them in the process. Or so they thought. Millenia has passed, and vampires became a myth. You wake up as the last of your kind, with a memory loss at that, not able to remember anything about your past after you were turned. So, in my game, there will ever only be one vampire, or two if you decide to turn your love interest into one. The focus of the story is not on your typical hidden vampire society tropes you see in other games and media. In fact, most of the tropes don't apply here at all, or are different in some ways. Here, the focus is solely on you, and how you will navigate this modern world and deal with your vampiric nature. More on the story setting will be explained as the game progresses and receives further updates, but roughly, there will be mystery, gore, murder and killing, intrigue, revenge plots, blood, and yes, occasional sex when the story permits it.

A New Reality: Kyra is thrust into the complexities of the modern world, where technology and societal norms have evolved far beyond what she could have imagined.  

A Forgotten Past: With a fragmented memory, she struggles to recall who she was before her death. Each piece of her past is a puzzle she must reconstruct.  

Coping with Vampirism: As a newly awakened vampire, Kyra is forced to confront her supernatural nature, learning to control her thirst and power while grappling with the darkness inside her.

Forming Friendships: Despite her vampiric condition, Kyra meets new individuals who offer friendship, guidance, or even romantic interest.  

Trust and Betrayal: As she builds relationships, Kyra must navigate the complex dynamics of trust, knowing that some people may have hidden motives.  

Choices and Consequences: Every interaction with others holds potential for growth or conflict, and the choices Kyra makes will shape her story and future.

This is the story of a cute 18 year old vampire who wakes up in a coffin after a 1,000 year slumber. Unsure of how she got there she eventually manages to escape the crypt and make her way to the big city, which she sees on the not too distant horizon.Along the way you are introduced to a hunger system, which I assume will play a part in decision making as the game progresses.Upon arriving at the city, the MC finds a young woman named Clara standing by herself in a dimly lit alleyway. It just so happens that Clara was looking to turn her very first trick as a prostitute. Without giving too much away, the two immediately take a liking to each other and the MC agrees to spend the night at Clara's apartment.Here you are given the option to take the relationship to the next level and have sex. The prologue ends at this point.Artistically beautiful. There are a lot of very nice renders to feast your eyes on.2- A few zoomed in facial animations were really impressive. Well done!3- Music was integrated fairly well, adding to the mood of the game.4- The characters were cute and somewhat likeable.5- The story shows promise.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this prologue much despite how promising it looked first based on the description and the images.It suffers from many issues you see from aspiring, beginner writers and code that's barely holding together. But the most damning issue for me is the blatant use of AI to write a big chunk of the descriptions / inner thoughts and I'm sure many of the dialogues too. But let's go from point to point.The first thing most people will notice after starting the game is that the dialogue box is not aligned properly with the text, it is not centered. And right after that the second big issue is the font itself which is unnecessarily artistic and hard to read. If you're in the process of learning English, this game might be a real challenge for you to comprehend what is written. I highly recommend the dev to change the font.For some reason, we get a compilation of renders (without any text) for the crypt after we wake up. Unnecessary. I'm otherwise a fan of textless renders because I'm all for showing over telling, but there was no point to it here other than padding the number of renders. But my show over tell point also goes out of the window, because this game is frustratingly overwritten, but not just overwritten in the usual way you might imagine; it is overwritten in the absolute most impersonal, robotic way that lacks any personality. Reading the narrations and many of the dialogues were reminiscent of ChatGPT's default writing style in every way, and I'm certain it was written with AI, since there is a sharp distinction between the dev "writing" flawlessly, and other times making very basic errors, like writing "common" instead of "come on" (every time) in dialogues. The dialogues are mostly terrible, no human beings communicate like that.

Final Verdict:

You play as a young 18 year old girl named Kyra (can be changed early in prologue) and, unknown to her at the time, a vampire, who has been awoken roughly a millennia after her ''death'' to a modern world. But on top of all that, she also has a memory loss, caused by her long slumber and has only portions of her memory left. You will be guiding her through these modern times as she enters a big modern city in which she will be meeting new people while at the same time dealing with her vampiric nature as well as trying to recover her lost memories.
